Likewise is a media and entertainment platform providing personalized content recommendations and discovery for TV, Movies, Books and Podcasts. We have the largest entertainment and media focused newsletters available anywhere. Our newsletters complement our existing product ecosystem of mobile apps, streaming TV guides on the web, and connected TV apps, and they have more than 5M subscriptions.
Reporting to the Head of Business Development and Partnerships, the Head of Ad Sales will build and execute on a robust digital ad sales strategy to monetize Likewise's growing email newsletter business. You will partner with leading entertainment marketers to effectively launch and scale a key new revenue product for Likewise, building on our highly-engaged audience in the entertainment space.

  • Deliver immediate revenue against target plan
  • Create and build relationships at key entertainment marketers, leading marketers from other relevant categories, and associated media agencies
  • Ensure Likewise's email newsletters are top-of-mind during key planning and buying cycles
    • Successfully pitch and win new clients; grow existing revenue from current clients
    • Take a new product to market successfully
    • Compellingly articulate the benefits and unique features of a scaled email newsletter product
    • Create marketing and advertising industry awareness of Likewise broadly and its email newsletter offerings specifically
    • Evangelize the benefits of email newsletters generally and Likewise's entertainment-focused offering as a unique, standalone product
      • Help define and create strategic and highly polished pitch collateral
      • Help define advertising products, reporting processes, operational guidelines, pricing & inventory and all other aspects of ad sales process
      • Partner with editorial team around calendar, sponsorable features
      • Represent Likewise at advertising industry events Requirements
        • 10+ years in a leading ad sales organization from digital publishing, TV sales, digital sales, social / search
        • Experience and, ideally, expertise in selling email newsletter products specifically - either as a standalone or as part of a broader portfolio of sales products
        • Ability to manage short & long term revenue targets
        • Deep understanding of marketer and client needs and campaign objectives
        • Network of leading marketers and agencies contacts, ideally from the entertainment category, but also from CPG, Beauty, Auto, Health and other relevant categories
        • Ability to work in unstructured, start-up culture
        • Proven senior level experience in sales
        • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
        • Ability to compellingly pitch deals, structure and negotiate, and close partnerships
        • Self-starter, entrepreneurial, scrappy, nose for deals & dollars
        • Experience managing people and teams
        • Travel to client meetings as needed
        • Strong written, communication and presentation skills
        • MBA preferred
          In the spirit of pay transparency, we are pleased to share the base salary range for this position is $145K to $205K with significant commission potential over and above base. If you are hired at Likewise, your compensation will be determined based on factors that may include including geographic location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any offer. Please bear in mind that the range listed is the full base salary range for the role, and hiring at the top of the range would not be typical, in order to allow for future salary growth. The range listed is just one component of Likewise's total compensation, which includes: PTO; paid holidays; medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance; employee assistance program; 401k; professional development; paid parental leave; and stock options. Certain revenue-generating positions may be eligible for commission and/or other incentive compensation.
