Job Description:

DescriptionThe Semel Institute is seeking to hire a Project and Policy Analyst Supervisor who will oversee all aspects of the Outcomes Analysis of the California Behavioral Health Response and Rescue Project (BHRRP) project and be under the direction of the Principal Investigators and Program Manager. The primary objective of BHRRP is to enhance the availability of behavioral health care services, including mobile crisis services, across the entire state of California. These projects are being implemented by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). This position involves analytical studies of these new projects and their associated policies, with the goal of assisting in policy and program planning, development, and implementation. The Project and Policy Analyst Supervisor will monitor and analyze information collected from these projects and provides recommendations to DHCS and other stakeholders.Main duties of this role fall into the following categories:

  • Representing the Projects and UCLA ISAP at Professional Meetings and ConferencesPay Range: $83,400.00 - $179,300.00 annuallyQualificationsRequired:
    • B.A. /B.S. in Social Science, Public Health or related field.
    • Demonstrated experience managing health-related research or evaluation projects (minimum of 3 years).
    • Ability to effectively supervise multiple evaluation team members on project-related tasks and timelines.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing with participants, community members, staff and supervisors.
    • Demonstrated ability to write research papers and reports that use correct syntax and grammar, and clearly represent findings.
    • Skill in communicating with persons of diverse social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
    • Commitment to advancing social and racial justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.
    • Skill in reading, synthesizing and summarizing technical and scientific documents.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with program staff, policymakers and other stakeholders.
    • Experience working with multiple tasks and conflicting priorities to achieve objectives on time with accurate results.
    • Willingness to travel (domestically) and work occasional evenings/weekends.
    • Valid driver's license, dependable car, and insurance for field data interviews and attending conferences.
    • Organizational skills and strong attention to detail to maintain records and coordinate other tasks as required.
    • Experience in data collection, including interviewing, and web-based survey applications (e.g., Qualtrics).
    • Experience in quantitative data analysis using statistical software packages such as STATA, SPSS, or R.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and relevant software programs (e.g., Box, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Skills in critically analyzing information, programs, problems, situations, and practices to formulate thoughtful and relevant conclusions.
    • Experience supervising one or more staff members.Preferred:
      • Direct experience delivering peer services and/or behavioral health crisis care.
      • Experience communicating research findings via reports, policy/data briefs and social media posts.
      • Experience creating clear and effective data visualizations and infographics using relevant software (e.g. Tableau, ArcGIS).
      • M.S./M.P.H in Public Health, Social Science or related field.
      • Knowledge of and familiarity with substance use disorder and/or mental health practices.
      • Knowledge of and familiarity with peer-delivered substance use disorder and/or mental health services.
      • Knowledge of and familiarity with substance use disorder and/or mental health crisis response.
