It highlights Air Products commitment to energy transition and supports California's decarbonization by producing renewable aviation fuel.We are seeking a Hazmat Technician who will handle hazardous materials and ensure the safe transportation, storage, and disposal of dangerous chemicals and waste products. This role involves supporting turnaround activities, conducting risk assessments, responding to emergency situations involving hazardous substances, and adhering to strict safety protocols and environmental regulations.Principal Accountabilities:Receive and respond to hazmat related work orders, including emergency spills, cleanup and preparation for disposalTrack waste inventory to ensure timely removal of hazardous wasteTake samples for waste characterization, fill up chain of custody and get them ready for laboratory pick upCoordinate scheduling of waste pickup, bin or container deliveriesPerform hazmat surveys and observe all live and non-running unitsLabel bins, drums, buckets and check them for leaks, or any unacceptable condition or damagesOperate forklift to move or relocate bins, hazardous waste or other non-hazardous wastePerform weekly waste yard inspectionHelp acquire waste quotes, and prepare paperwork to generate the accurate profileThis is a safety sensitive positionGroundwaterDaily monitoring of remediation unitsSchedule quarterly PM and other repairs as neededCoordinate and schedule pump pulls for quarterly monitoringCoordinate weekly/bi-weekly conveyance piping clearance with vacuum truckTake weekly/bi-weekly water/oil cuts from wellsInspect piping and coordinate repair as neededDo VES quarterly reports on Data Pumping and O&M summariesStorm WaterCollect stormwater samplesConduct weekly, quarterly and annual stormwater inspectionsRequirements/Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentRefinery experiencePractical knowledge of hazardous waste managementClass A or B Commercial Drivers licenseMust be physically able to lift 50 lbs. and wear personal protective equipment for extended periods of timeGood oral and written communication skillsPossession of or ability to acquire 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER trainingKnowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, WordForklift operation experience preferredThis is a safety sensitive positionAir Products proudly values the skills, dedication, and leadership that veterans bring to the table.
