Job Description:

BuzzFeed is seeking a Production Accountant (Project-Based) to add to its small but mighty team. You will serve as the primary contact and support for Producers and Production Teams regarding freelancer payroll and overall production spend & tracking.We're looking for a Production Accounting professional with a solid understanding of non-union freelance production payroll, A/P processing, CASHet, and cost reporting, who is proficient in EP Smart Accounting and SmartStart onboarding.You Will: Process all Freelancer payroll, start work, time cards, ACA compliance, and various HR related duties.
Takes ownership of all tasks, follow throughs and problem solving.
Master coding and departmental procedures for all spend.
Serve our crews efficiently and with a positive demeanor.
Liaison with Pay Master, Vendors, Contracts and other third parties.
Analyze data, find and correct errors, and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
Maintain data integrity and adhere to internal controls.
Reconcile accounts and complete month-end responsibilities.
Create and produce ad hoc reports.
Comply with GAAP and all state, local and federal regulations.
Perform data entry into multiple systems using multiple programs.
Cross check data to ensure accuracy. Report discrepancies.
Continually increase skill set and actively contribute to improvement of processes.
Perform tasks and special assignments as directed.
Assist other departments as requested.
You Have: Bachelor's degree. (Accounting, Business, or Entertainment related, preferred).
3-6 years Production Accounting experience (with at least 3 years of solid payroll, preferred).
Proficient in production payroll ERP systems (preferably EP Smart Accounting).
Advanced Excel skills including pivots, sumifs, and vlookups.
Experience with automated time tracking a plus.
Admirable work habits with ability to shine under pressure.
Proven ability to think strategically to prevent and solve problems.
Solid organizational and time management skills.
Are efficient, accurate and enjoy taming the data details.
The ability to learn quickly and have flexibility to shift tasks swiftly.
