JOB Summary:

The Gift in Kind Coordinator oversees and implements gifts in kind activity related to the solicitation and receipt of Gift In Kind. The GIK Coordinator is responsible for planning, securing and following through on Gifts in Kind receipts as well as monitoring that deliveries and pickups were received at planned locations and is properly secured. The GIK Coordinator also identifies potential donors, develops relationships and acquires valuable donations at the local, regional and national levels. The GIK Coordinator ensures that all required GIK related administrative functions are completed on a timely basis, including GIK monthly reports, issuance of thank you letters and donation receipts, and preparation of annual GIK Report to the Board of Directors. The GIK Coordinator participates with management, particularly within the Operations Division to develop strategic focus and targeting of donors, and then executes a cultivation and engagement strategy to ensure that GIK provides significant value to the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the solicitation, receipt and inventory of GIK to The Midnight Mission.
  • Works with the Executive team to ensure effective and efficient and effective targeting of needed supplies to support various organizational division needs.
  • Researches opportunities and works closely with the Transportation Department to coordinate transportation and pick-ups required to support GIK supply chain.
  • Develops strong working relationships with staff to solicit their expertise in evaluation of current systems and development of long-term strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Creates strategies with specific action plans to achieve individual GIK goals.
  • Conducts systematic and ongoing prospecting activities to maintain an adequate pipeline for potential donors.
  • Develops personal relationships with individuals in other non-profit organization to drive collaboration.
  • Writes compelling proposals and oversee development of creative presentations and reports.
  • Drives well qualified opportunities through processes and necessary approvals.
  • Effectively manages relationships to successfully complete job requirements.
  • Provides complete and accurate reporting of all data and information required by the Executive team.
  • Effectively utilizes TMM technology to capture GIK data.
  • Produces monthly and annual GIK Reports
  • Manages the development and updating of GIK Program Policies and Procedures.
  • Leads annual GIK evaluation for GIK Program
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Competencies:

    • Experience in fundraising for GIK and non-profit experience is essential.
    • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies
    • Knowledge and experience with proposal writing
    • Excellent social, interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with culturally diverse staff, program and participants.
    • Thorough knowledge of homeless service providers' need for products and supplies.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, analytical, persuasion and mediation skills.
    • Ability to network and form partnerships with organizations and business entities outside, representing TMM to a broad range of current and potential partners/donors.
    • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, attention to detail and follow up.
    • Comfortable identifying potential targets, creating plans to engage the appropriate people at those organizations and closing the deal.
    • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and managing a number of projects and activities simultaneously.
    • The ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects with variable deadlines.
    • Excellent team building, leadership and organizational skills.
    • Collaboration with multiple TMM departments and with outside partners is key.
    • Computer literate with the ability to use word-processing, spreadsheet, database, email, web browser and project software.
    • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
