Clinical Supervision for licensure Role Summary The Early Intervention Specialist will conduct family interviews, functional vision assessments, provide direct intervention in the child's home, and develop an Individual Family Service Plan for each child assessed. Conduct family interview.
Conduct functional vision assessment.
Coordinate schedule compatible with client needs, ensuring the weekly visits are met.
Drives an average of 1,000-3,500 miles/month throughout the Southern California area.
Provide direct intervention in the child's home or occasionally at a center-based site or hospital.
Develop Individual Family Service Plan for each child assessed and their family and provide quarterly reports, or other dates are required by individual Regional Centers.
Must be able to evaluate child and family needs and implement or assign appropriate intervention strategies to meet those needs.
Participate in in-service training and professional development and implementation for staff and families.
Assist families in locating and accessing appropriate resources in the community.
Assist families in entering the public school system or appropriate preschool setting (Birth -3 children).
Assist families in special activities, i.e., outdoor recreational activities, seminars, etc.
Communicate through verbal and/or written reports with the client's family and Regional Center Worker.
Maintain written records as outlined in EIP procedure manual.
Attend regular staff meetings an in-service trainings on Wayfinder Family Services' campus a minimum of once per month.
Participate in professional interagency coordination opportunities in the community.
Reports in writing any unsafe/hazardous conditions to your immediate supervisor.
Promote the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process by identifying quality indicators and opportunities for departmental and organizational process improvement.
Report any incidents/accidents according to incident reporting procedures and protocols, within designated timelines as outlined in the reporting procedures. Ensure staff is knowledgeable of and adhere to the reporting procedures and protocols.
Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent client information. Qualifications Bilingual in Spanish Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Child Development, Early Childhood Psychology or related field. Teacher of the Visually Impaired or Early Childhood Special Education credential, preferred. Minimum one year experience working with multi-disabled infants/young children and their families, preferred Knowledge of the implications of visual impairment on early childhood development and the family system, preferred. Knowledge and ability to initiate and self-direct appropriate intervention, preferred. Knowledge of procedures and rights involved with accessing school system programs. Familiarity with services available to infants and young children with vision loss and multiple disabilities in Los Angeles and California, preferred. Willingness and ability to make frequent field visits, attend meetings, conferences and other job related events away from headquarters. If driving a personal vehicle, must be insurable by our agency's automobile insurance carrier.
