Job Description:

This is a wonderful opportunity, overseeing approximately 10 employees in a state-of-the-art kitchen.

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the Cafe operations and managing/delegating tasks to Prep Cooks, Line Cooks, Receivers, and Dishwashers. You will assist the Executive Sous Chef in supervising food quality, production and costs. Other duties include inventory, ordering, and food preparation.


* Responsible for production according to recipes/directives of Executive Chef
* Manage all aspects of Cafe operation in line with client requirements
* Order and oversee par levels of food inventory
* Maintains food quality standards by overseeing all phases of food procurement, production and service, including, inventory and ordering, storage and rotation, food preparation, plate presentation, and service and production time standards
* Regularly inspect and monitor all stations for correct preparations and presentation before, during & after service hours
* Effectively builds trust with staff members and fellow management by providing clear and honest communication and feedback
* Evaluates the quality, care, and morale of the staff and strives to improve these areas
* Conducts monthly housekeeping, food safety, and sanitation and facility reviews
* Prepare weekly menus, coordinates with Chefs for menu meetings in order to receive feedback, and meets menu deadlines
* Provide daily summary report to management team and Culinary personnel
* Conduct regular meetings with Culinary personnel, reporting any consistent delays, issues, & feedback
* Complete daily/weekly orders for the purchasing team
* Check records including HACCP logs, incident reports, timesheet corrections have been filled out correctly, in an organized and timely manner.

*Knowledge & Skills*

* Excellent culinary skills, food knowledge, and understanding of food products
* High volume production & large batch cooking
* Strong verbal, communication, interpersonal, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
* Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
* Sense of urgency and time management skills
* Fast, efficient, and safe knife skills
* Ability to problem solve and think critically
* Clearly understands the roles in a kitchen brigade
* Computer skills (Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Word, Dropbox)
* Knowledge of standard kitchen safety, sanitation, and food handling, local regulations including HACCP, food safety, health & safety, COSHH, allergens

*Education & Work Experience*

* Culinary Degree (preferred)
* 3-5 years' experience as kitchen manager in a full service, moderate to high volume restaurant
* Experience managing a large team

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
