Job Description:
United Friends of the Children empowers current and former
foster youth on their journey to self-sufficiency through
service-enriched education and housing programs, advocacy, and
consistent relationships with a community of people who
care.Founded over 40 years ago, United Friends' is a leading
provider of youth development services to current and former foster
youth in Los Angeles County. Through its housing and education
programs, the organization has helped thousands of young people
imagine and actualize their own dreams and futures. All programs
are grounded in a relational model. At United Friends, youth build
long-lasting, developmental relationships between young people and
caring adults, as well as connections to nourishing peer and
community support systems. Around those relationships, United
Friends wraps an array of supportive services to help youth
successfully transition to adulthood. Operating 11 housing sites
around the county, United Friends' housing program provides current
and former foster youth with a stable place to live and targeted
services that promote their long-term economic stability and
wellness. Serving students from the sixth grade through college
competition, United Friends' education program reverses abysmal
educational outcomes for foster youth by ensuring they graduate
from high school and college. As a result of services, United
Friends alumni have greater housing and economic stability, higher
educational attainment and a stronger sense of community and
emotional wellbeing.
- Install and configure all staff tech equipment including, but
not limited to; software and hardware-- computers, printers-- cell
phones and door key cards
- Develop protocols for the use of IT across departments and
projects
- Facilitate the interaction between end users and higher-level
support (e.g., phone provider, software provider).
- Advise management with the goal of making the appropriate
advice on the most suitable IT choices
- Monitor systems and network performance and organize
maintenance activities
- Design, plan and execute training on the use of systems and
networks
- Problem solves with any technology, systems, equipment, and
networks in a timely manner
- Forms strong bonds with equipment manufacturers and service
providers
- Perform troubleshooting and execute needed repairs
- Provide in-house technical support assistance to all staff
including on site and at the main downtown office
- Prepare new staff technology and software before their start
date (e.g. laptop, key card, cell phone email, email groups, teams
channels).
- Train current and new staff on existing systems such as Teams,
Outlook and The Could
- Maintain main office printer ink supply and maintenance
- Ensure main office monitors are working properly
- Support staff with setting up technology for a team
meeting
- Support with troubleshooting for Pathways on site network
issuesAdministrative
- Work Maintain licenses, passwords, and upgrade schedules
- Manage accounts and Prepare check request and payments for
technology & systems accounts (Microsoft, Adobe, Dell, Aerio
Connect, Verizon, Apple)
- Maintain tracking log of all technology assigned to staff and
technology in the main downtown office
- Review and develop security-related contract documents
- Assists in budgeting for IT expenses, including the purchase of
new equipment and software when necessary.
- Implements a plan for repair or replacement of computers and
other forms of technology.
- Conduct annual assessment of UFC technology, equipment and

- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Strong analytical and logical thinker with proven skills in
organizing, communication, and problem solving
- Demonstrated expertise in basic computer equipment; software
platforms, such as Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Excel
and/or statistical software packages
- Working knowledge of PC and Apple products
- Ability to work with technology users at all levels of
technical expertise with patience and encouragement
- Skilled in interpreting and communicating technical lingo to
non-tech savvy laypeople
- Eager to learn new programs and technology
- Strong organizational and coordination abilities with close
attention to detail
- Works responsibly with sensitive and confidential
information
- Balances multiple competing priorities with strong
organizational skills and attention to detail

Qualifications:
- Two or more years of direct experience working on an IT
coordinator or other relevant position
- Two or more years working with organizational networks and
technology
- Profound experience in network management and help desk
support
- Good practical experience of managing IT systems and
applications, troubleshooting and repairing issues
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and LAN/WAN
configuration
- BSc or BA degree in information technology or computer science
United Friends currently implements a hybrid work environment,
where our staff's residence is their primary place of work. This
position will work full-time hours, Monday-Friday. The IT
Coordinator will be required to report to our downtown office as
needed. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required
throughout the year as needed.
