The Materials Buyer coordinates the purchase, inventory, and claim process of raw materials used at all Plant locations, coordinates between Plants and vendors on material needs maintain effective supplier relationships, and monitors supplier performance improvement Essential Duties and Responsibilities --- Coordinate the purchase of raw materials (additives, resin, etc.) based on the Plant's production needs. --- Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships --- Measure and track supplier performance improvement for on-time deliveries, quality, and customer service. Resolve issues. --- Process materials orders and contact suppliers for the status of material deliveries. Review and process materials claims for Plants. --- Follow up on delivery schedule for shipments with vendors, carriers, and Plants, and check abnormal delivery. Handle and trace shipping abnormalities. Coordinate with vendors and broker for customs clearance for imported shipments. --- Compile and maintain statistical records related to inventory, cost savings, and lead times. --- Prepare reports for management review, such as Monthly Action Plan, and Competitive Bid Results, to include conclusions and recommendations. --- Perform inventory analysis to ensure consistent inventory levels and identify variances. --- Maintain, review and periodically update material master file on price list and inventory. --- Establish and maintain rapport with suppliers while ensuring Plants are provided with needed materials. May search for new vendors and negotiate pricing. --- Assist with projects and other job-related duties as directed. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate degree or certification in Business, Procurement, Logistics or related field and 3 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual language skills (English / Mandarin Chinese) preferred.
