About The Job

BWAM is looking for a Senior Associate to join the Debt Team. We are seeking an agile team player who enjoys working cross-functionally with different parts of the organization. This includes assisting the originations team in screening underwriting and closing new investments, as well as assisting the portfolio management team with fund level initiatives, hold-and-sell analysis, and analyzing investment-level leveraged initiatives.

Our robust platform provides opportunities across a variety of asset classes, financial modeling, fund level reporting, and underwriting of debt investments. Regular communication with internal and external decision-makers will be expected in this role, offering exposure to industry leaders in the real estate investment community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the proactive monitoring and management of a variety of debt investments across all positions in the capital stack including structured credit investments backed/collateralized by various property types (e.g., industrial, multi family, office, retail)
  • Review and analyze business plans, leasing activity and monthly property-operating performance
  • Liaison with borrowers, legal and leading members of the Originations Teams to review business plan execution
  • Develop and maintain detailed asset-level cash flow reforecasting models
  • Underwrite a variety of asset classes and investment types, including complex cash flow, budget, and fund/partnership modeling
  • Guide Analysts in the maintenance of detailed asset- and portfolio-reporting models to monitor the performance of investments at the asset level
  • Demonstrate strong leadership abilities and effective management skills, with a desire to manage, mentor and develop team members

    Qualifications
    • Asset management experience, including development and analysis of real estate-based financial models
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and ARGUS Enterprise
    • Experience with property underwriting and advanced financial modeling
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Attention to detail with superior organizational skills
    • Proven ability to multitask and quickly understand new concepts
    • Desire to work as part of a small, highly entrepreneurial team
    • A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience
    • A bachelor's degree (required)

Responsibilities include weekly leasing calls, monthly operations reviews, annual budget and business plan reviews and financial analysis; and
      • Investment- and Fund-level Reforecasting: BWAM is responsible for creating proprietary investment-level valuation models for the portfolio to enhance our ability to reforecast investment-and fund-level performance on a routine basis.
