JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

Under direct supervision, the Reg/Charge Entry Rep is responsible for resolution of pre-billing edits, financial classification and registration data entry. The Reg/Charge Entry Rep preps daily reports via Excel for their assigned region(s) to resolve unbilled encounters. The position works in a cooperative team environment to provide value to customers (internal and external). The Reg/Charge Entry Rep carries out his/her duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct and acts in the best interest of TeamHealth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for resolving unbilled encounters through pre-billing reports. Not limited to the following: TES Edits, Exceptions, Rejections and Claim Edits
Responsible for reviewing and coding face sheet accruals based on TeamHealth FSC Guide into the system and maintaining those files on an ongoing basis
Responsible for registering patients through our OnBase Unity Client. OnBase Workflow is comprised of queues that guide the processing of batches and patient charts documents through specific departments to complete the billing process.
Responsible for completing invoices in their daily views through the Advanced Web ETM system
Quality checking data of face sheets that are entered through the systems or the data that is being reviewed/corrected prior to claim submission
Matches patient demographic and insurance information to their respective accounts and assures all information has been verified and current
Maintains Days in A/R by working oldest aged accounts as priority
Responsible for having working knowledge of payer eligibility and benefits verification/billing guidelines
Has complete understanding and working knowledge of navigating payer websites
Responsible for high volume, accurate and rapid data entry of patient face sheets into our billing software (GECB or Registration App) and/or MS Excel spreadsheet (if needed)
Responsible for all daily productivity reporting requirements
Maintains and exceeds department standards for productivity and quality
Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations for private health information
Continually seeks to understand and act upon employer/customer needs, concerns, and priorities
Meets employer/customer expectations and requirements, and gains employer/customer trust and respect
Functions effectively within a team and participates and contributes constructively to produce results in a cooperative effort

Responsible for maintaining your workload within your department metric goals
Maintains ongoing knowledge of HCFA 1500 and other mandatory state billing forms and filling and follow up requirements and ensures compliance of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 coding regulations and guidelines
Coordinates with and provides feedback to management regarding process improvements, trends, errors or issues as they relate to the registration department
May perform special assignments and other related tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent
Some billing experience or graduation from vocational medical billing college
Demonstrated success working in a team environment focused on meeting organization goals and objectives is necessary
Knowledge of pre-billing standards and systems
Knowledge of insurance types and timely filing standards
Experience with providing visible participation and support of major change initiatives preferred
Comprehensive experience of inpatient and outpatient billing requirements of HCFA 1500 billing forms
Knowledge of basic math and the ability to perform math functions in units of American currency
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
Ability to review documents for accuracy and reasonability
Ability to determine priorities
Ability to coordinate schedules and information
Ability to work well under pressure
Tact and patience when dealing with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the company
