Program Description
TOTAL's Adaptive Skills Training is an intensive 1:1 program to help people of all ages and disabilities develop the key skills necessary for living and interacting successfully with others. If appropriate, the program will also incorporate community skills training which helps the individual navigate successfully out in the community. TOTAL's AST training is available to children as young as three years old. For best results, parents and caregivers must be involved in this training. The program focuses on development of functional living skills as well as the following:
purchasing and monetary (banking) skills and communication in the community (oral or adapted)
self-advocacy and using public transportation
attending community events such as church services or cultural activities
safety awareness and independent living skills
participating in leisure and recreational skills

Staff Requirements for Adaptive Skills Program
At least 21 years old
At least 2 years of - providing behavior services to individuals with special needs
Undergo extensive training in ABA principle and procedures & conducting lessons
To be able to take feedback from Supervisors
Conduct the sessions based on protocol
Responsible for parent data & parent training
Collect data on skill development and behavior change
Up to date credentialing (e.g., CPR, car insurance, TB, crisis intervention)
Implement the individualized support plans for clients with specialized support.
Transport clients in personal automobiles (personal automobiles must meet the insurance qualifications and drivers must meet drivers license checks).
Complete appropriate documentation of client's progress
Submission of payroll, direct service logs, and reports in accordance to company policies
Must have working technology (computer, cell phone, working email)
Communication with supervisors, including replying to emails, and phone calls in a timely manner
Maintain professional behavior as outlined by company policies
Ability to stand, reach, scoop and regularly lift 30-40 pounds throughout assigned shift
Able to endure physical activities including, but not limited to walking, recreational sports, etc.
In cases of behavior outburst, be physically capable of using NCPI techniques, including physical control positions
Implement CPR and First Aid techniques during crisis situations
Driving requirements 20-30 minutes
Standing for long periods of time out in the community and/or home environment
