The Institute for Research on Health Aging conducts
multi-disciplinary research that prioritizes the prevention of
cardiovascular disease, neurocognitive disease, and cancer. Our
focus is on translating new research discoveries into pragmatic
interventions aimed at promoting healthy aging across diverse
populations. Our approach involves human physiology, cohort, and
clinical trial studies and our team includes established experts in
population, clinical, translational, basic, and data science.
Our Clinical Research Specialist II will provide clinical
research expertise by participating in the design and
implementation of multiple projects. Ongoing research projects
include longitudinal cohort studies, clinical trials, and large
database analyses. You will serve as a Team Lead for one large
project and/or several small to medium sized projects that will
involve working closely with investigators on developing the
research infrastructure, coordinating operations, communicating
progress, ensuring compliance, and identifying areas for
improvement. Will also assist with preparing grants and manuscripts
for publication. Importantly, you will participate in not only team
building activities but also formal and informal training
opportunities designed to promote cross-areas skills development
and personal career growth in preparation for further leadership
Essential job duties and responsibilities:
Provides clinical research expertise by participating in the
design and implementation of research projects as needed by the
department or institution.
Responsible for specific and assigned aspects of research
infrastructure development and/or maintenance.
Coordinates research projects at an institutional or

leadership in a timely manner.
Projects may include, but are not limited to
investigator-initiated protocol development including protocol
writing, case report form development, budget development, and
coordination of departmental research committees.
Provides guidance regarding project planning, project logistics,
and project implementation.
Serves as an internal consultant for specific departmental

scientific documents for abstracts, publications, presentations,
funding applications, and study protocols.
May implement and coordinate department-wide initiatives such as
research quality management or clinical trial recruitment
Ensures compliance with all federal and local agencies including
the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and local Institutional
Maintains research practices using Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
Maintains strict patient confidentiality according to HIPAA
regulations and applicable law.
Participates in required training and education programs.
Implements research projects by working with investigators to
develop the research infrastructure, coordinate operations,
communicate progress, ensure compliance, and identify areas for

- Supervise day-to-day clinical research operations.
- BA/BS degree required
- Masters in Public Health or equivalent preferred
- ACRP/SoCRA (or equivalent) certification preferred.
- Five (5) years minimum experience in area of research
- Ability to work extremely well as part of large or small
- Ability to learn new technologies and software applications
- Outstanding organization skills.
