Payroll Supervisor

Job Description:

A member of the Finance team that will ensure complete and accurate processing and recording of company's payroll. This position will also be involved in handling payroll tax related issues, internal/external audit requirements, commissions, and equity based compensation.

Essential Functions

  • Processing bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls
  • Processing commission/sales incentive related payrolls
  • Processing payrolls related to equity-based compensation (i.e., RSUs and/or stock-options)
  • Work closely with HR to ensure the accuracy and completeness of on-cycle and off-cycle payroll details prior to being released for payment
  • Current knowledge of federal, state and local taxation
  • Manage 401K contributions and funding
  • Works closely with Stock Plan Administration to process equity related transactions via payroll
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and controls, SOX as well as compliance with external laws and regulatory guidance.
  • Responsible for annual 401(k) audit
  • Assist with external and internal audit requests as required
  • Respond to employee inquiries concerning payroll and stock administration


  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Must be able to work independently and a team player
  • Proven experience working in a team under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Advanced Excel skills are preferred
  • Knowledge of PlanSource, UltiPro, ADP or similar payroll processing systems
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Other Duties

  • Assist Finance when necessary with ad-hoc projects
  • Additional payroll related projects (i.e., payroll system implementations) as needed

Required Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of payroll related experience
  • Experience with major Payroll software required (PlanSource preferred)
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Accreditation preferred

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and may require weekend work.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of the office are normally associated with extended amounts of time sitting and using office equipment, including a computer, keyboard and mouse, which can cause muscle strain. While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Travel may be required (up to 5%).
