How will you make an impact?

The Production team at Thermo Fisher Scientific's West Hills, CA facility is responsible for formulating buffers, filling, and final assembly packaging of HLA products used by customers in the Transplant Diagnostics market. Our team is dynamic and fast paced, relying on teamwork, multitasking, and communication within the team and the larger organization. We are seeking an energetic individual with strong communication, technical and operational skills to join our team. The candidate will follow SOPs and work in compliance with EH&S, cGMP, and any other required manufacturing or company systems (e.g. SAP, Master Control, etc.). This position will be responsible for supporting the team in achieving daily production schedules and product quality goals.

What will you do?

  • Read, understand and implement written laboratory procedures.

  • Ensure quality assay manufacturing by following standard procedures for:
  • Dispensing of biological reagents

  • Reagent and buffer preparation

  • Printing labels and labeling bottles, vials, and boxes

  • Packaging, sealing, and scanning of assays

  • Perform production tasks on different product lines as needed.

  • Handle and work with biological and chemical reagents.

  • Responsible for the safe and secure storage and monitoring of inventories, products as well as in-house supplies.

  • Set up and operate equipment of moderate complexity.

  • Properly manage inventories physically and systematically in SAP as well as perform cycle counts.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisor to ensure expectations, progress, and results are clearly understood.

  • Ability to perform routine tasks accurately, efficiently, and according to schedules as assigned.

  • Able to efficiently handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Review data, recognize, and report inconsistencies to supervisor.

  • Maintain confidentiality of laboratory data and processes.

  • Assist in developing, writing and instituting necessary protocols.

  • Ability to train other lower-level staff in production procedures.

  • Anticipate needs and problems while creating solutions.

  • Ability to solve problems that may come up in the department, troubleshoot, and think critically.

  • Frequent contact with Production Department, Warehouse, Purchasing and other laboratory personnel with a variety of technical and functional backgrounds.

  • Assist in keeping a safe environment. All laboratory personnel are expected to notify their supervisor or manager of any unsafe conditions and/or practices and to take appropriate corrective actions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

How will you get here?


  • High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher learning institution in the Biological Sciences, Chemistry or related field such as Engineering preferred).


  • Two (2) years of related laboratory experience.

  • Current Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

  • Experience with PPI Business System preferred.

  • Experience with New Product Introductions and being part of project teams preferred.

  • Knowledge of general laboratory procedures and practices.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.

  • Strong organizational, record-keeping, and data analysis skills.

  • Must be customer focused and able to work under pressure with team.

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, contagious optimism and a 'can do' attitude.
