Responsibilities

The Programs and Partnerships Specialist represents a critical position at the Global Health Program (GHP), whose activities straddle several functions. Specifically, the Programs and Partnerships Specialist will play a key role in supporting and/or managing GHP’s communications (internal and external), budget, fundraising, and global partnerships, among other tasks. This position requires adaptability and flexibility, as GHP continues to evolve and expand through its strategic planning process.

In this role, you will provide direct support for successful implementation of GHP’s medical student programs and other activities intended to support engagement in global health among faculty/staff and postgraduate trainees. Educational opportunities aimed at medical students include the Global Health Selective, Pathway, Global Short-Term Training Program (GSTTP), MS4 Senior Clinical Elective, and special events (e.g., LA Global Health Conference, Global Health Case Competition).

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in any relevant field (public health, public policy, business administration, etc) or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5-7 years of work experience, including in the field of global health/global public health
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively, diplomatically, and cooperatively with a wide range of international, domestic, and UC leadership, faculty, staff, administrators, and collaborators
  • Experience with marketing and/or public relations strongly preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient with managing large budgets in Excel
  • Proficient with creating professional PowerPoint presentations with animations and cutting-edge visualizations
  • Experience with website management
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Ability to travel internationally, as needed
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred but not required skills:

  • Proficiency in Spanish (speaking and writing)
  • Experience with statistical software for basic quantitative and qualitative research methods that might be useful for program evaluation
  • Experience in academic medicine or with non-profit health organizations?
