Job Description:

Campbell Hall, an independent, Episcopal, K-12, all-gender day school in Studio City, California, seeks an Associate Head of Community Engagement to join the senior leadership team and steer the school's diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice (DEIJ ) efforts. Campbell Hall seeks a mission-driven leader with courage, tenacity, high emotional intelligence, and an appreciation for the complexity of an evolving institution fully committed to creating a more inclusive, equitable, and just school and community. Reporting to The Rev. Canon Julian Bull, Head of School, the Associate Head of Community Engagement will work in partnership with the Associate Head
for Teaching, Learning, and Strategic Initiatives, and will be an integral member of an action-oriented, highly collaborative, and deliberative senior leadership team, engaging all constituencies.

Founded in 1944, Campbell Hall is a leading independent school. It is poised to lead in DEIJ efforts in the school community, in Los Angeles, and at the national level. From the school's mission to nurture "decent, loving, and responsible human beings," to the most recent strategic plan to "build and sustain an inclusive community," including confronting systems of oppression and structural inequalities, Campbell Hall's energized commitment rings powerfully. The Associate Head of Community Engagement will expand current DEIJ efforts, such as inviting guest speakers and making presentations in chapel, teaching multicultural literacy, and supporting both affinity groups and social action organizations for parents and students. The Associate Head of Community Engagement role is a tremendous opportunity to operate as a senior executive with the energy and efficacy to examine the school's issues and opportunities both from the 20,000-foot strategic view and also at the tactical policy and classroom level.

Strategic priorities and opportunities for the Associate Head of Community Engagement include:

--- Serve as a thought partner to the Head of School and Board of Directors
--- Identify opportunities for institutional improvement related to DEIJ
--- Provide vision and leadership to shape and implement investments, plans, and strategies aligned with the school's goals and creating a welcoming environment for all
--- Act as the lead storyteller for DEIJ work at Campbell Hall for the school and larger community
--- Serve as a catalyst to leverage best practices and resources
--- Engage with appropriate stakeholders to develop, implement, operationalize, and measure the school's strategic DEIJ plan, vision, and related goals
--- Guide with a DEIJ lens to analyze and leverage data presently being collected for an upcoming DEIJ audit, to build trust, and to advise the full Administrative Team
--- Design an institutional data collection, analysis, and reporting process to benchmark and promote accountability for DEIJ at Campbell Hall
--- Maintain strategic relationships with the greater community, alumni, donors, and organizations focused on DEIJ
--- Collaborate with senior leaders to integrate DEIJ best practices into hiring and retention practices
--- Ensure a coordinated and cohesive institutional approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion organizational excellence
--- Serve as an advocate, mentor, and resource for constituents with concerns and issues related to DEIJ

The Position:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Associate Head of Community Engagement is a critical thought partner to the Head of School and Board of Directors and supervises the DEIJ leadership team. Working in tandem with the Associate Head for Teaching, Learning, and Strategic Initiatives and partnering with Campbell Hall leadership and faculty across the school, the Associate Head of Community Engagement will inspire and drive Campbell Hall's broader strategy for community engagement and DEIJ. This includes influencing faculty recruiting, interviewing, engagement, evaluation and retention; admissions; internal and external communications; and student and staff policies (including conduct, grievance, performance, assessment, etc.). This position oversees the DEIJ aspect in the school's strategic plan, working with other school leaders to achieve and communicate the school's strategic goals, success, and areas for growth regarding the school's commitments to all identities, including and particularly those related to race, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, level of ability, socioeconomic differences, and other under-represented and/or marginalized communities. In addition, the Associate Head of Community Engagement will oversee curriculum review and development, including working with the chairs of human development, history, English, and all departments on curriculum and provide mentorship and support for faculty and staff to build cultural awareness of and sophistication in engaging with the identities mentioned above.

The Associate Head of Community Engagement is expected to interact regularly with the highest tiers of Campbell Hall leadership and to influence and help shape the DEIJ agenda of the Board of Directors. The Associate Head of Community Engagement will be expected to:
--- Participate in Campbell Hall Board meetings, Alumni board meetings, and the DEIJ and Public Partnership Committees of the Board

--- Increase DEIJ competencies while working in tandem with the senior leadership team, Board of Directors, and Head of School. The Associate Head will help build institutional capacity in this work, understanding that work is already happening at the student level
--- Inject DEIJ in all elements of school operation, demonstrating great initiative and helping put a DEIJ lens over how the school develops moving forward
