Sr. Assistant Director, High School Recruitment. The Senior
Assistant Director, Recruitment represents UC, UCLA and
Undergraduate Admission (UA) to the internal and external
community. The position is responsible for coordination of
department high school visits and supervision of 8 professional
staff; plans staffing, coordinates with campus departments and
oversees UA staff participation. Visits assigned schools in Los
Angeles, and manages assigned territories (CA region/county and out
of state territory). In consultation with Associate Director,
Domestic Recruitment responsible for coordination, planning, and
implementation of recruitment and yield events for undergraduate
freshman applicants for admission to UCLA. Interacts with UCLA and
other campus administrators and staff and representatives of the UC
Office of the President, represents UA and UCLA at various
recruitment and yield activities. Responsible for developing
events' budgets, organizing staffing and needed online reservation
system, space/rooms, refreshments as required and promotional
materials in coordination with the publication staff. Analyzes
results of programs; recommends changes; prepares written reports.
Participates in training of readers for freshman admission
selection and serves as a team leader and resource for readers;
Responsible for training and coordination of alumni volunteers for
recruitment activities. Participates in short and long range

Records. Qualifications. Required/Preferred. 1.Demonstrated skill
in speaking clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and
grammar to obtain and convey information to individuals at various
organizational levels.. Required. 2.Demonstrated English oral
communication skills to address large audiences of prospective
students, parents, and school and college representatives..
Required. 3.Demonstrated ability to make oral group presentations
to explain UC admission requirements and opportunities to motivate
students to higher education.. Required. 4.Demonstrated skill in
reading and interpreting written documents in standard English text
such as admissions requirements, University policy, and procedural
manuals, etc.. Required. 5.Demonstrated skill in writing reports
and proposals using word processing, excel.. Required.
6.Demonstrated skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect
relative importance of job responsibilities.. Required.
7.Demonstrated leadership skills to encourage and train staff for
programmatic responsibilities.. Required. 8.Demonstrated
supervisory skills for training, delegating responsibility, and
evaluating performance.. Required. 9.Demonstrated ability to
establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other
staff members, subordinates, school administrators and officials
and representatives.. Required. 10.Demonstrated skills in program
planning, including implementation, administration and evaluation
for specially targeted students.. Required. 11.Demonstrated skill
in interpretation admission guidelines and in analyzing academic
and test records to determine applicant eligibility for admission..
Required. 12.Demonstrated analytical skills to evaluate programs,
write reports, recommend improvements, changes, enhancements..
Required. 13.Working knowledge of post-secondary educational
institutions, their academic programs and student affairs/personnel
services.. Required. 14.Demonstrated working knowledge of the
organizational structure of the Los Angeles Unified School District
and other local districts with regard to such factors as location,
student population, and academic programs.. Required. 15.
Demonstrated working knowledge of the organizational structure of
the California Community College System with regard to such factors
as location, student population and academic programs.. Required.
16.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement recruitment
