Under the general leadership of the Strategy, Architecture and
Analytics director ( SAA ), and in conjunction with other
University areas and external organizations when necessary, the
Business Intelligence and Analytics Analyst is responsible for
providing technical knowledge in Business Intelligence and
Analytics that enables the University to make decisions using
current and accurate data. This role includes transforming data
into compelling visual stories and analytics designs. Also, the BI
and Analytics Analyst create conceptual, logical and physical data
models and builds, reviews, and modifies ETL scripts and jobs to
ensure accurate data capture and translations for a successful
implementation of an enterprise BI and Analytics solution.
Position Specific Responsibilities:
Serve as liaison between the user groups and the SAA team,
ensuring the best technical solutions are developed for the
University needs. Help the SAA team understand business processes
by creating diagrams and supporting documentation as needed.
Lead business, process and data diagnostic activities to gather
appropriate information and data needed to support solution
Translate University business requirements into technical
specifications, especially designing dimensional models over varied
sources of data, which meet the University business
Create the conceptual and logical data models and the
translation of the logical model into a physical model and ETL data
Review or modify ETL scripts and jobs to ensure accurate data
capture and data transformation.
Utilize ELT tools for creating ETL processes. As well SQL and/or
other programming languages to code ETL instructions from
specifications. Use all special programming techniques necessary to
achieve the most effective program.
Test and debug ETL programs. Write and maintain documentation to
describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and
Develop data visualization based on streaming and stored data
Work closely with institutional researchers/data scientists,
directors and managers to ideate and translate concept into
concrete reports and actionable tasks.
Monitor performance of programs after implementation.
Conduct reviews of project documents, including requirements,
technical design and prototypes, test plan and test cases
Assist with testing and change management procedures.
Provide administration of the EDW and BI environment with a
focus on routine maintenance, data loads, data analysis, and

Experience/Qualifications: Experience in Business Intelligence
and visualizing data to illustrate business-analytic intents.
Minimum two (2) years of Reporting tools (Tableau and Business
Objects are preferred).
Must have minimum Three (3) years of experience working with
relational database management systems (Oracle is preferred).
Enterprise working level knowledge of Data Modeling (Dimensional
is preferred) using ER modeling tools, creating logical and models
(including implementation into Physical schemas) and utilizing
complex SQL . Working experience with ETL tools is preferred.
Enterprise working level knowledge of one programming language
such as Java, C#, C++
Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced
by background in preparing comprehensive requirements,
specifications, deployment procedures, testing plans, maintenance
processes and incorporating complex, highly technical
