Description:Primary Responsibilities:Coordinates offboarding process for terminating employees, including preparing and processing applicable termination documents, reviewing with separating employee, obtaining signatures and filing as applicableAdministers the online Harassment Prevention Training program and coordinates other employee training as requiredPerforms HRIS audits as necessaryResponsible for accuracy of personnel files, conducts audits as needed and/or directedAdministers the online company benefits programs including PlanSourceAdministers company health and welfare benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and short- and long-term disabilityMonitors Short Term Disability enrollment on a monthly basis for outsourced Leave of Absence program (Larkin file feed)Performs regular audits of the benefits system (PlanSource), addressing issues and resolving discrepanciesResponds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiriesOrganizes benefits Open Enrollment activities including communication and related trainingCoordinates benefit strategy meetings with brokers, HR and FinanceAssists with the preparation of the annual total rewards statements, including document data gathering, development and rolloutResearches and recommends employee benefits and programs to enhance culture and company valuesAssists with filing of workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open casesAdministers employee spotlight program (Get Connected)Supports the new hire buddy program (Navigator)Orders and maintains inventory of corporate promotional items, distributes items as necessaryWorks with Accounting to review payroll change reports to ensure integrity of employee dataMonitors HR inbox and responds to employee questions, referring to HR colleagues as neededResponds to Verification of Employment (VOE) requests per company policyCoordinates and organizes company events and special festivitiesAssists in the implementation of department policies, procedures and programsMaintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulationsContributes as needed to any or all other HR activities including recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, policy implementation, performance management, employee relations, and employment law complianceMaintains company org charts through Org Chart Now, files and records monthly copyResponsible for regularly sending HRIS feed report for financial planning benefit programServes as backup for New Hire Orientations and may assist with onboarding activitiesCoordinates and maintains San Diego gym waiversAdheres to all department and company-wide policies regarding conduct, performance and proceduresPerforms other duties as assigned.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Position minimally requires a High School diploma/GED and 8 years of progressive HR experience. A Bachelor's degree and with at least 5 years of progressive HR experience preferred. Requires at least 2 years' experience administering employee benefit programs, general recruitment, compensation programs, and policy and procedure interpretation. Relevant experience gained within the biotech or life sciences industry strongly preferred.Position also requires:Knowledge of state and federal employment lawsStrong understanding of benefit and leave of absence planning and administrationFamiliarity with the biotech and life sciences industry strongly preferredAbility to form strong, credible, trusting relationships with employees at all levelsStrong collaboration and teamwork abilitiesAbility to think critically and creatively in a fast-paced, changing environmentAbility to operate with the highest level of integrity and to maintain confidentiality.
