Our client, a hugely successful healthy beverage company, is again growing and now seeking an innovative and talented Senior Food Scientist as an addition to staff:The Senior Food Scientist position within the R&D department will play a key role in industry leading R&D in fermented beverages. The position offers a broad scope to contribute and learn in a fast-paced and growing company. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors
in Food Science, with at least 5+ years
beverage and/or juice industry experience. Sensory experience a plus. A solid technical skillset in the following areas is vital: food science, product development, formulation, fermentation, and chemistry. Non-technical, but vital skills needed to be successful in this position are: critical thinking, organizing ability, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and effectiveness in communication.Responsibilities:
Report to the Director of R&D
Bench-top formulation of new products and scale up prototypes
New product development and product improvement activities
Formulation in Excel and Genesis Software
Support the sensory testing and new flavor development program
Trouble shoot production and quality issues
Communicate with cross-functional teams
Run cross-functional team meetings on a weekly basis.
Qualify ingredients and vendors for regulatory compliance
Run stability testing on current and new products
Instrumental methods of analysis and sensory testing
Perform statistical methods of analyses on data and report the findings
Organize data and present experimental results periodically
Assist in developing SOPs and technology transfer documents to production and QC
Oversee off site plant trials and first production at Co-Manufacturer
Maintain the in-house testing equipment through periodic maintenance and calibrations.
Inventory management of laboratory supplies, samples, and R&D ingredients
Ship and receive samples from and to 3rd party, update direct report with status changes
Medium physical work, lifting to 25 lbs. occasionally
Adhere to all site safety regulations and rulesQualifications/Skills:
5+ years of beverage and/or juice industry experience
Familiarity with lab equipment (pH meter, Brix meter, analytical balance, etc.)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Critical thinker, organized, diligent, hard-working mindset
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)You must be a Permanent Resident of the USA or have a valid Green Card to be considered.Relocation is available from anywhere in the Continental USA.You must have a BS Degree and at least 5 years experience in RTD Beverages.This is a growth opportunity with a fast growing and entrepreneurial company.Due to the large quantities of resume submissions, we regret that we can only respond to the most qualified candidates.
