Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Duration: 12 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, evenings - Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Location: San Diego, CA 92123 Duration: 13 Weeks Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to support overnight laboratory operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform accurately in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety. Key Responsibilities Analytical Testing & Laboratory Operations - Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing in accordance with written policies and procedures - Ensure accuracy and integrity of test results through thorough review, documentation, and verification - Meet departmental turnaround time goals while maintaining zero-defect and zero-harm standards - Investigate and resolve questionable or abnormal findings with appropriate follow-up - Assess testing variables related to patient age and population-specific factors - Demonstrate critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and sound judgment in high-pressure situations - Serve as a resource for staff and student training, competency assessments, and development - Participate in the creation, review, and revision of laboratory policies and procedures - Act as a key operator for analyzers, testing validation, and laboratory technology Equipment & Inventory Management - Operate laboratory analyzers, tools, and systems according to manufacturer and training guidelines - Identify, document, and resolve equipment, analyzer, reagent, and tool issues in a timely manner - Remove defective equipment from service and coordinate repairs; validate performance post-repair - Perform and document preventive and corrective maintenance - Participate in evaluation and selection of analyzers and test methodologies - Actively manage reagent and supply inventory to prevent shortages Quality Assurance & Compliance - Perform and evaluate quality control, proficiency testing, validation, calibration, and linearity studies - Identify errors and complete investigations, corrective actions, documentation, and notifications - Monitor quality indicators and collaborate with laboratory leadership to meet or exceed benchmarks - Supervise Medical Lab Technicians, Phlebotomy Technicians, and Laboratory Assistants as assigned - Promote accountability, teamwork, and mutual respect within the laboratory - Communicate effectively using Closed Loop and SBAR communication tools - Participate in regulatory, safety, and compliance activities - Perform shift lead duties as needed and contribute to continuous process improvement Required Qualifications - California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist License – REQUIRED - Minimum 3 years of recent CLS experience - Education meeting California State CLS requirements Preferred Qualifications - ASCP certification About Aimic Inc Aimic provides essential support by connecting healthcare facilities with qualified professionals.
