Job Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Ambulatory Services for
Orthopaedic Surgery, this position organizes, coordinates or
provides oversight of the business and patient care functions for
the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. The position will supervise
the medical front and back-office staff and coordinate clinical
services. Provide daily administrative and operational oversight
and physical space management. Work with leadership to manage the
scheduling of appointments and referrals in order to ensure that
high quality support services are provided to physicians and
patients, ensure a steady patient flow and productive patient
physician facility relationships. Demonstrate a leadership style
that promotes enthusiasm and dedication to the facility and its
administration.Minimum Education:* High School graduate or
equivalent.Minimum Experience/Knowledge:* 3-5 years administrative
operations experience in an outpatient setting.* Knowledge of EHR,
financial systems (Lawson, Kronos)* Demonstrated effective
supervisory skills including experience in recruitment, performance
appraisal, identification and communication of expectations, and
training. Skill in analyzing information and procedures to define
objectives, identify patterns and recognize alternatives and their
implications.* Skill in operating a personal computer and software
programs, including MS Word, and Excel Spreadsheet. Interpersonal
skills to promote a cooperative and productive work environment and
to establish and maintain cooperative, productive working
relationships with faculty, residents, medical students and staff
from various social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.* Working
knowledge of medical terminology.* Writing skills to prepare
accurate and concise reports and memorandums that clearly convey
information utilizing appropriate vocabulary and grammar.* Working
knowledge of computerized appointment scheduling and registration
system, and the ability to effectively train staff in the use of
the system. Working knowledge of hospital policies and procedures
to appropriately manage patient registration, cashiering, risk
management, and personnel.* Working knowledge of major medical
insurance plans. Demonstrated experience in managing patient
services and nursing staff in a private medical practice or
community clinic.* Work with Lead Physician, Director and Senior
Operations Manager to plan and prepare for annual budget,
integrating organizational goals, patient care standards and
administrative requirements. This includes forecasting for need of
capital equipment, number of patient visits, and any staff
requirements.* Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with
sensitive and confidential information using judgment and
discretion. Skill in listening perceptively, conveying awareness
and responding to patients with health concerns, using tact and
discretion. Ability to creatively integrate competing demands of a
high-volume patient care setting into a productive working
environment and maintain equanimity under pressure of frequent
interruptions and/or distractions.Required License/Certification:*
Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be
obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before
