Now that I have been here for a while, I can see why."A little bit about our Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) Team:Our ECC and ICU departments are equipped to provide 24/7 care to incoming critical and non-critical emergencies, as well as transfers from our referring veterinarians, and hospitalized patients from our own specialty services. With multiple criticalists, senior clinicians, and interns on our ECC team, we can manage a diverse caseload with ease.The ingredients to our stellar ECC support team include doctors' assistants, technicians' assistants, RVTs, and VTS(ECC)s. And the glue that holds it all together, the ECC leadership team, is made of Shift Leads, Supervisor(s), and one very hands-on ECC Dept ManagerThis team thrives on collaboration and support from one another. Quality patient care comes naturally when everyone has each other's backs and is open to giving and receiving constructive criticism willingly..how else are we supposed to learn, right? Our goal is to continue to add new team members who feel the same way!If you are still reading, then you must like the way all of that sounds :) Of course a certain set of skills and experience are required, so read on for some details about each position:Technicians' Assistants:

  • This entry-level position is a great way for minimally experienced, aspiring veterinary technicians to gain experience in emergency veterinary medicine while building the foundation needed to become a skilled technician.
  • Our TA's will practice hands-on learning by assisting the senior techs with any restraint or patient handling needs, executing basic nursing care tasks, and maintaining a clean and stocked treatment area. They will learn new skills as they advance and eventually "graduate" to becoming a technician.Skills required:
    • Small animal restraint and handling
    • General understanding of basic veterinary nursing care
    • Minimum of 6 months experience in veterinary medicine (as a veterinary TA or kennel assistant, actively enrolled in RVT school and/or completion of the Certified Veterinary Assistant Program)ECC Technicians:
      • Our ECC tech position requires an experienced veterinary technician with well-developed nursing skills and advanced knowledge of veterinary medicine.
      • Responsibilities include providing nursing care to both our stable and critical hospitalized patients, triaging and stabilizing incoming emergencies, providing treatment to our outpatients, assisting with basic anesthetic procedures, and maintaining a clean and stocked treatment area.Skills required:
        • General knowledge of veterinary medicine
        • Small animal restraint and handling
        • Both basic and advanced veterinary nursing care
        • Medication administration - all routes
        • Phlebotomy and IV catheterization
        • Lab sample handling
        • Anesthesia prep and monitoring
        • Basic radiography
        • Triage and stabilization of a variety of emergency casesICU Technicians:
          • Our ICU techs are required to have a minimum of 2 years of veterinary experience specifically in emergency medicine.Skills required:
            • Applicants are expected to have mastered all skills listed above, as well as...
            • Possess an advanced knowledge of veterinary emergency and critical care
            • Critical anesthesia monitoring skills
            • Experience performing advanced nursing skills (such as central line placement, nasogastric tube placement, urinary catheter placement, etc.)General Info:
              • Unlicensed candidates should either be in progress of obtaining their license or intending to pursue licensing in the near future
              • Both full-time and part-time schedule options are available
              • We utilize a "4 x 10" work week for full-time schedules. Part-time employees work 8-hour shifts.
              • Graveyard hours pay an additional pay differential.Benefits package includes:
