Job Summary The Vehicle Systems Division (VSD) sits at the center
of the ideas and data behind current and future systems supplying
innovative research and development; technical evaluations during
the acquisition process; conceptual and detailed design; assembly,
integration, and test; and operational support. Comprised primarily
of highly-trained mechanical and aerospace engineers, VSD provides
national expertise in the areas of vehicle engineering; guidance,
navigation, and controls; robotics; electro-mechanical devices;
embedded systems; fluid mechanics; propulsion; thermal control;
orbital mechanics; mechanisms; structures; structural dynamics; and
dynamic environments. The Mechanical Systems Department (MSD) is a
team of 20-25 engineers responsible for the integrity and reliable
operation of moving mechanical assemblies , and separation /
deployment devices typical of spacecraft and launch vehicle systems
, including missile systems . The Explosive Systems Section is
responsible for the design, analysis, and test methodologies to
assess the performance and reliability of explosive devices and
separation/deployment systems u sed in launch vehicles and space
vehicles, and missile systems . The section coordinates with other
Aerospace technical disciplines, program offices, and contractors
in support of our customer's mission needs . As the MSD Manager-
Explosive Systems , you will work with the department Director, as
well as other engineering departments, in conducting
multi-disciplinary analyses, to ensure mission success and
developing future systems. This is a full-time position based in El
Segundo, CA, offering a hybrid work model that combines regular
onsite work and remote flexibility as the business needs allow.
What You'll Be Doing Planning and managing the training,
development, and daily tasking of a team of 4 -7 engineers. This
includes: hiring and training staff, conducting performance
reviews, optimizing employee productivity, and promoting
professional growth Provide technical and managerial leadership to
the Explosive Systems Section of the Mechanical Systems Department
in the areas of separation and deployment systems, explosive
devices , and hydrocode analysis Participate in the
development/refinement of analysis tools and techniques, including
hydrocode analysis methodologies Work closely with program offices
and customer s to coordinate tasking, report progress, resolve
technical issues, and assure project success Prepare written and
oral reports of organization's activities, issues, and
accomplishments to higher management, subordinates, and teaming
organizations Identify opportunities for additional, expanded, and
new business. Assists higher level management in the evaluation and
pursuit of new business opportunities What You Need to be
Successful Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
or equivalent is required A minimum of 5 years of experience in
separation and deployment systems, explosive devices or other
aerospace systems-related field is required Willingness to
occasionally travel and to work off-business hours to support
customer needs, approximately 10% (as required) This position
requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance ,
which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is
required to obtain a security clearance. How You Can Stand Out It
would be impressive if you have one or more of these: Advanced
degree in a STEM field or equivalent is strongly preferred
Experience with a broad range of hardware comprising separation and
deployment devices typical of spacecraft and launch vehicles,
including missile systems Experience in design and analysis, and
testing of explosive devices and systems Experience with testing
plans, procedures, and methods for explosive devices and systems
Understanding of applicable explosive properties and behaviors that
inform applications, with desired strength in the area of
initiation and energy output characteristics of the various
categories of explosives Knowledge of, and experience with, types
of analyses to examine design alternatives, investigate failures,
verify performance and/or check compliance with applicable
specifications Experience in the use of hydrocode analysis tools
(CTH, LS-DYNA) and CHEETAH The ability to communicate effectively
orally and in writing with management, program management,
customers, contractors, and colleagues is essential Experience
leading technical teams and mentoring junior staff Experience
developing and maintaining standards and command media A current
and active TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S.
government is highly preferred. U.S. citizenship is required to
obtain a security clearance. We offer a competitive compensation

pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within
that range are determined through a wide variety of factors
including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and
skills. (Min - Mid - Max) $103,300 - $146,650 - $190,000 Pay Basis:
