The Youth Center offers services in an LGBTQ+ safe and affirming environment and serves as an entry point to assist youth making the transition from homelessness to housing. Our services include meals, clothing, support groups, a charter high school, GED and college prep program, an employment preparation, training and placement program, case management, counseling, a crisis shelter and a transitional living program (TLP). Our community-based programs include services for youth at-home, in school or in systems of care.JOB SUMMARY: The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Manager provides day-to-day oversight to the operations and implementation of internal and external efforts which advance Youth Services' efforts to eliminate interpersonal and institutional racism, anti-trans bias, and other forms of oppression within the department's ecosystem. The Manager actively collaborates with staff at all levels of the department and youth members to improve the experiences and outcomes of youth members accessing programming, and staff DEI. In particular, the Manager maintains a strong working relationship with the Center's senior DEI staff and DEI committee and seeks to align the departments' efforts to improve member engagement, satisfaction, and positive outcomes as well as staff experience. The Manager is also responsible for working with the department's training and technical assistance team to support continuous staff development, department leadership to evaluate program impact and provide recommendations, and supervisors/hiring managers to ensure equity department HR processes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ---Convene and facilitate the department DEI Task Force comprised of staff who are representative of the department's program areas and demographics.---Support member retention and equity efforts to prioritize excellence in service provision for multiply marginalized members. ----Liaise with Center DEI Committee and the Center's DEI Office.---Collaborate with the DEI Task Force and Youth Advisory Council to implement and evaluate an equity plan that seeks to address institutional and interpersonal racism, anti-trans bias, and other forms of oppression affecting member experience and outcomes.---Partner with the Training and Technical Assistance team to develop and implement staff development programming, including onboarding and continuous development.---Support department hiring processes, integrating DEI principles and practices throughout drafting of job descriptions, recruitment, interview, onboarding, and retention efforts.---Partner with DEI Task Force and Youth Advisory Council to provide departmental project coordination for the planning and implementation of observations in honor of cultural heritage months and events, including Black History Month, Latinx Heritage Month, AAPI Heritage Month, and Women's History Month.---Assist directors, associate directors, and program managers in providing capacity building and implementation support to individual program areas so that they may successfully achieve goals and objectives within the Center's Equity Plan and department's Racial Justice Audit Action and Quality Improvement plans.---Other duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: ---Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.---A passion for the Center's work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.---Minimum 4 years working within a homeless services, youth social services, nonprofit or similar setting.---Minimum 3 years of experience working to promote diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion.---Minimum 2 years of experience conducting project and people management.---Minimum 2 years of experience conducting training and facilitating.---Effective communicator, including strong speaking, writing, and listening skills.---Familiarity with implementing intersectional analyses and developing solutions to complex challenges.---Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.The Los Angeles LGBT Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering diversity within its staff.
