Job Description:

A Facilities Manager, or Handyman Manager, maintains andoversees a company's grounds, buildings and equipment to ensure that aworkspace is safe and functional.He/she collaborates with building inhabitants to set safetyprotocols, supervise security staff and technology, schedule routinemaintenance, plan new projects and perform emergency repairs. FacilitiesManagers schedule daily janitorial services to keep the building's interiorattractive and hygienic. They assess the costs of maintaining workspaces, makerecommendations for becoming more efficient and may assist in relocatingbusinesses to a new office space that better meets their needs.Primary Job Duties:
Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Delegating cleaning and maintenance tasks toteam members
  • Monitoring the safety and cleanliness ofinterior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, parkinglots and outdoor recreation spaces
  • Performing routine maintenance on facilities andmaking repairs as needed
  • Scheduling routine inspections and emergencyrepairs with outside vendors
  • Ensuring proper security measures for theworkplace, including collaborating with security system vendors or a teamof security professionals
  • Maintaining day-to-day operations of facilities,such as delegating or completing maintenance orders
  • Creating reports on maintenance, repairs, safetyand other occurrences for supervisors and other relevant staff
  • Preparing facilities for changing weatherconditions
  • Collaborating with building owners and uppermanagement on budgeting for facilities needs

    Job Qualifications:A Facilities Manager uses many soft skills and industryknowledge to maintain the commercial properties they oversee, including:
    • Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge ofplumbing, HVAC, and other building systems
    • Proficiency with repair tools and techniques
    • Excellent communication and interpersonalskills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests,vendors, and team members.
    • Great time management, organization, andprioritization abilities
    • Keen attention to detail and efficientproblem-solving skills
