Our firm is currently looking for a project Director to provide project leadership and technical expertise for the Energy & Sustainability division. This individual will operate out of our Los Angeles office. This is an outstanding opportunity to bring your broad sustainability and energy policy, planning, and implementation expertise to our team and make an immediate impact on the continued success of our firm.
The Director, Energy & Sustainability position is a Senior level seller-doer position including oversight of team members and direct performance of technical services for the delivery of a range of sustainability and energy services, including but not limited to: sustainability policy development and strategic planning; climate action planning and resiliency; environmental program support; energy efficiency, energy generation, and energy management services; and commissioning support services.
Responsibilities
The following list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by management:


  • Influencial thought leader; well-networked in sustainability industry.
  • Overall policy, planning and technical expertise delivering sustainability and energy services.
  • Deep understanding of sustainability and climate change regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Contribute to business growth strategies and proposal development.
  • Knowledge of building systems performance and solutions for reducing operational emissions.
  • Provide supervisory oversight and perform technical tasks for delivery of energy and sustainability technical services for decarbonization (including energy analysis, energy models), climate emission analysis, and technical reports.
  • Provide quality assurance review of data collection and and data analytics.
  • Experience developing/reporting on building or campus level carbon emission reduction strategies/performance.
  • General knowledge of climate change reporting frameworks and international standards.
  • Initiates and leads all phases of project cycle, including business development meetings, scope of work development, project staffing, contract delivery, and close out.
  • Understanding of CA regulatory requirements for project development and operations.
  • Ensure that projects are delivered within the agreed upon cost, quality, schedule and profit.
  • Identify grant and incentive opportunities, and manage grant application and funding requests.
  • Interface with clients on schedules, meetings and issues (manage client expectations).
  • Advise senior management of the project status on a regular basis.
  • Anticipate potential schedule or priority delays and initiate plans for alternative actions.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in environmental, sustainability, engineering, project management, or a related field.
    • 10+ years' of industry experience desired
    • A strong understanding of organizational operations and how resource consumption impacts emissions.
    • Strong understanding of climate change and energy policy, regulations, best practices, and emerging trends, specifically within California.
    • This position will require some travel as needed.
    • Vehicle transportation, valid driver's license and insurance.

      Required Licenses:

      • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. -

        Preferred Certifications:

        • LEED Accreditations
        • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA)
        • Related energy and sustainability accreditations
