DirectorSchedule Type: -Full-time, ExemptLocation: -Office located
in Anaheim, CA. Requires some travel throughout the Greater Los
Angeles Area.Compensation: -$85,000-$105,000The Muslim community is
comprised of the Asian-American Pacific-Islander (AAPI), Black,
Middle Eastern and North African (MENA), and other communities that
are most vulnerable to hate, school bullying, and issues related to
campus climate. The Director of the Center for the Prevention Hate
and Bullying will lead strategic initiatives that increase the
Center's capacity to provide services, training, advocacy,
partnership, education and outreach, and data analysis in response
to issues of hate while also seeking sustainable funding for the
Centers continued growth.The Director will work with lawyers,
policy advocates, and media experts to -systemically addressing
issues of hate by focusing on:
- Training: -Developing training for school districts, colleges,
law enforcement, lawmakers, and other institutions that respond to
incidents of hate.
- Advocacy: -Advocating for local and state legislation and
funding to better address and resource communities and individuals
impacted by hate.
- Partnership: -Investing additional capacity and resources in
developing strategic partnerships with nonprofits, government
entities, foundations, and academics to reach intersectional and
collaborative solutions to preventing hate.
- Education and Outreach: -Furthering education and outreach to
impacted communities on how to report, address, and heal from
incidents of hate.
- Data Analysis: -Analyzing and developing data that can inform
our training, advocacy, and partnerships on the types of hate and
their impact on the communities we represent.DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Center and
provide strategic planning as to the direction and growth of the
Center.
- Increase our responsiveness and assistance to Muslim
individuals who have been the victims of hate crimes/incidents,
school bullying, and issues of campus climate.
- Develop best-practices training protocols for police
departments to address and properly report hate crimes and hate
incidents.
- Develop best practices training protocols for schools and
universities to address issues of bullying and campus climate.
- Establish, develop, and grow relationships with key
institutions such as elected officials, law enforcement,
universities, schools, and partner organizations in order to
address and meet the strategic goals of the Center.
- Lead the development of surveys, focus groups, and other
research initiatives as well as the drafting and publication of an
annual school bullying and campus climate report.
- Oversee the reporting system of hate crimes/incidents and
bullying incidents to be maintained internally and reported
externally to partner organizations and institutions.
- Recruit, supervise, mentor, and support Center staff and
provide opportunities for professional development and growth.
- Assist on grant applications to fund the work of the
Center.
- Collaborate with the development department staff to secure
future funding to sustain and grown the work.
- Manage subgrantee relationships and partnerships for grant and
project collaborations.
- Create and supervise outreach and educational strategies to
increase the departments impact.
- Work to educate and empower community members on their rights
through community presentations and material distributions.
- Travel for outreach including participating in community events
and coalition meetings.
- Support other general duties such as answering phones, weekly
outreach, fundraising, and other office tasks as required.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.
- Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
- Prefer candidates with a master's in public administration,
master's in public policy, master's in public health, Juris
Doctorate, or PhD.
- High degree of self-motivation and creativity.
- Background in statistics preferred but not required.
- Minimum of three years' experience directing or managing
staff.
- Strong time management skills with a demonstrated ability for
meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with outstanding attention
to detail.
- Comfort working productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented
environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including
public speaking experience.
- Experience working with people from diverse cultural and
socio-economic backgrounds.
- Access to a working vehicle and the ability to drive throughout
the Greater Los Angeles Area.
- Knowledge of cloud applications such as SharePoint, Office365,
and social media applications (preferred)
- Conversational proficiency in Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Pashto or
Urdu (preferred but not required)OTHER
