experienced Fabrication Director in scenic, experiential, and live
productions to join our team! -We are seeking a dynamic
professional who are experts in digital fabrication methods,
materials & applications. If you thrive in a highly innovative,

the position for you!The ideal candidate in this role will have
demonstrable experience strategically engaging at an executive
level and be able to understand how to apply our unique
capabilities to the world's most innovative customers. You will be
strongly self-motivated and have a dynamic ability to bring
together cross functional teams in a common purpose.You will work
alongside the creative & productions teams to create, sample, and
test part builds, and use learnings to improve processes and
procedures. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a
fast-paced environment, will enjoy solving problems and making
improvements, and will have a no job too big or small
mentality.Responsibilities:
- Managing fabrication vendors and the fabrication process
- Will own and develop process on how PHNTM production team
actualizes it's 3D designs in partnership with the leads of the 3D
Design, Technical Direction, and Production Direction teams.
- Should have experience in material management and selections as
well as complex fabrication solutions
- Have deep networks for fabrication vendors domestically, having
global experience is a plus
- Will be responsible insuring all fabrication vendor paperwork,
beholden to PHNTM desired output to that specific project
- Own 3D printing and prototyping throughout PHNTM job
cycles
- Provide support in business case analyses, consult on design
for fabrication, setup files and documentation for print jobs,
print parts, outline & deliver training as needed, and report
results
- Requires expertise with post process finishing to optimize
surface finish on highly detailed parts
- Evaluate and consult on internal applications, focusing on
materials engineering related topics associated with the
manufacturing of parts and molds
- Provide consultation on materials engineering related topics
such as powder, material performance, metallurgy, and heat
treatment associated with various pieces of experiential media
- Manage with other electrical, mechanical, software, firmware,
industrial, and process teams to co-develop mechanical, hardware
and software solutions to integrate into manufacturing; apply
principles of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and
mathematical analysis
- Support test technicians by troubleshooting difficult problems
and instructing the technicians in techniques to resolve these
issues
- Lead design and production for all things digital fabrication;
working both independently and with a team of industrial designers,
engineers and innovators to turn ideas and art into a reality
- Bonus if you have experience in printed graphics and vinyl
applicationsQualifications:
- Have a bachelor's or master's degree in Architecture,
Industrial Design, Robotics or a related field and have experience
programming 5-axis (or greater) CNC machines and other fabrication
tools, working with a wide variety of materials.
- You can strategize, conceptualize, translate and create 2D & 3D
models into reality and are fluent in CAD programs including
AutoCAD, Rhino, Solidworks, Vectorworks, etc.
- Previous employment experience in a relevant agency
setting
- Have experience with building a process
- Have experience with running and building a team
- Mastery of Google Workspace
- Understanding of task management programs (Slack, Trello,
Asana, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially
when articulating technical concepts to non-technical
audiences
- Composure and ability to lead with confidence and calmness when
faced with competing high-priority projects and difficult
decisions
- Some domestic and international travel required
- Must be based in Los Angeles, CA (this is a hybrid position) -
reliably commute or planning to relocate
