The Director of Global Marketing will spearhead special "blue-sky" initiatives for innovation and product marketing, including (but not limited to) projects specific to China. Additionally, they will guide the product marketing team in managing core SKUs and innovations, while ensuring launches are executed seamlessly with a strategic vision for telling compelling stories, building brand equity, and ultimately growing the business.

  • Collaborate with the Vice President to develop and execute key strategic initiatives that support Murad's Long-Term Plan, while adhering to Murad's unique DNA.
  • Support development/implementation of the product portfolio, innovation pipeline, and product marketing strategy to enhance brand story and drive sustainable and profitable growth and market share gains in priority channels and regions.
  • Leverage NPD/CRM and Financial analytics capabilities to improve and assess brand/product performance.
  • Drive customer acquisition and build core equity (i.e., sampling).
  • Develop strategy, evaluate feasibility, and co-develop marketing campaigns for new product launches and core business support initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Spearhead and champion comprehensive 360-degree marketing communication and storytelling to support key strategic categories and priorities of Murad's business.
  • Responsible for managing and mentoring direct reports on the team.
    Innovate products and concepts to create new business opportunities (40%)
    • Develop 3-year innovation strategy and product marketing calendar, with focus on fast-growing categories, hero products, and brand-building channels.
    • Build the innovation pipeline strategy to support strategic development in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including R&D, New Product Development, Channels, Supply Chain, Finance.
    • Use data analytics to drive business decisions, gathering and/or conducting market and consumer research to build strategic business case for innovation briefs.
    • Perform market research to understand key category dynamics, consumer insights, competitive landscape, customer segmentation and be able to provide recommendations and develop strategies based on key findings.
    • Recruit, acquire, and retain new consumers with robust Sampling, Travel Size, and Promotional Value Set strategies supporting core products.
    • Liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure product will (1) meet financial objectives leveraging pricing, COGs, forecast guidelines, (2) be launched with a roadmap to achieve timelines, and (3) will deliver against original concept, backed by clinical testing and 360 launch support.
      Spearhead special initiatives, including China (25%)
      • Serve as key point of contact for special initiative teams, including China, facilitating product strategy and product marketing with global leads.
      • Lead meetings with special initiative teams, including a bi-weekly meeting with China, ensuring product assortment and launch timing supports overall brand and regional strategy.
      • Partner with R&D, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, and key teams to execute systems or logistics requirements specific to special initiative needs, such as China regulatory requirements.
        Brand equity and product storytelling (15%)
        • Act as voice of the consumer-be consumer obsessed and understand the path to purchase to help develop compelling innovations with engaging stories.
        • Provide insightful analysis and recommendations for product concepts to ensure that they stand out, reflect culture/trends, and address consumer behavior.
        • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and sales/retail leads to ensure product concepts are robust and competitive to achieve business results/objectives.
        • Serve as the "glue" for product messaging (what's in it for the consumer, reasons to believe, etc.) within all marketing functions (creative, social/influencers, PR, etc.) to enable a seamless 360 consumer experience.
          Oversee annual team initiatives (10%)
          • Spearhead annual Innovation Strategy in conjunction with Unilever Prestige and Murad R&D to ideate product concepts and identify white space opportunities.
          • Spearhead annual global Pricing exercise.
          • Oversee annual Line Edit / SKU Profitability.
          • Oversee quarterly Global SKU List.
          • Oversee any other ad hoc data analysis.
            Additional responsibilities (10%)
            • Nurture and develop direct reports on the Global Marketing team.
            • All other duties as assigned.
            • Think outside of the box! Develop innovative and creative new marketing ideas that align with Murad's unique DNA.
              • Must be an excellent team player with the ability to build, foster and nurture relationships with members of the Global Marketing team and cross-functional teams.
              • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with un-prompted follow-through.

              • Strong knowledge of global beauty and/or luxury goods markets.
              • Strong analytical skills and ability to provide actionable business recommendations based on data-driven insights.
              • Expertise in product marketing strategies and brand marketing especially in the online markets.
              • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
                • 10+ years marketing experience in skincare or cosmetics industry; CPG and product development/manufacturing brand experience an advantage
                • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
                • MBA strongly preferred.
