Summary Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Accounting Supervisor is primarily responsible for directing the Company---s accounting team and the financial functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining the Company---s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives; preparing financial reports, managing cash flow and building strong relationships with bankers, vendors and others. Essential Responsibilities Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department Oversee daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivables, general ledger and bank reconciliations. Carry out the annual audit by giving information and answers to auditors. Manage month-end and year-end closing. Organize financial data into useable information and maintain updated records. Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives. Cost accounting experience required FP&A experience and responsibilities Establishes priorities to ensure timely completion of all Accounting functions. Addresses customer concerns regarding account reconciliations. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. Ensures that all terms and conditions of Customer Agreements are followed. Identifies and recommends solutions for process improvement and policy clarification. Prepares and distributes management reports and other documentation related to areas of responsibility Participates on internal committees, completes special projects and performs other duties assigned Adheres to company policies and procedures and sets a positive example for others within organization. Supervisor Responsibilities This position has direct supervisor responsibilities for the Accounting Department personnel and is responsible for interviewing, selecting, training, coaching and developing employees, addresses performance deficiencies, conducts formal and informal performance evaluations, recommends personnel actions such as position upgrades, salary adjustments, promotions, and terminations. Addresses interpersonal conflicts, manages work schedule and assignments within the department. Ensures work is completed with high level of accuracy and on-time. Consistently focuses on continuous improvement and streamlining of processes and makes appropriate recommendations Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles Education, Experience and Licensure AA degree in Accounting or equivalent education and work experience 5 plus years related experience Technical Experience Proficient use of Microsoft office including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Ability to learn new software programs as needed. Language Skills The incumbent must have strong command of the English language and be able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing at a professional level. Mathematical Skills The accounting supervisor must be able to analyze and present quantitative data; accurately compute basic mathematical equations such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and percentages; calculate discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages and conversions; and apply concepts of basic algebra. Reasoning Ability The Accounting Supervisor must be able to analyze and interpret data relating to various projects and resolve issues and problems that arise. The Accounting Supervisor must be able to: Resolve issues of a routine, and complex nature and exercise appropriate judgment to escalate issues to senior management. Effectively prioritize routing work assignments to ensure goals and timelines are met. Ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Apply knowledge of GAAP and company policies to problems and provide appropriate resolution. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will be conducted in a standard office environment with associated distractions such as noise from telephones, keyboards, talking, and paging systems. Temperatures are regulated by facilities management and are not within the direct control of the individual. Most work is done while sitting down, using a computer keyboard and gazing at a computer monitor. Position requires the incumbent to move from the work area to other areas of the company, including other offices, cubicles, warehouse and production areas, conference rooms and other offices in the same building or another building. The incumbent may be required to walk or drive his or her own vehicle to a second location a short distance away. Must be able to sit for up to eight hours per day, lift and carry up to 5 lbs. with or without assistance, reach above shoulder height, bend, stoop, and crawl to retrieve items from under a desk or floor level cabinet or drawer; push and pull, use a computer keyboard throughout the workday, stand while filing or performing other essential responsibilities. Exposure to standard chemicals used in an office environment is expected and includes but is not limited to toner, glue and liquid paper or white out. Additionally, the incumbent may be exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process of nutritional supplements, cosmetics, and prescription drugs.
