The mission of the USC Race and Equity Center is to illuminate, disrupt, and dismantle racism in all its forms. We do this through rigorous interdisciplinary research, high-quality professional learning experiences, the production and wide dissemination of useful tools, trustworthy consultations and strategy advising, and substantive partnerships. While race and ethnicity are at the epicenter of our work, we also value their intersectionality with other identities, and therefore aim to advance equity for all persons experiencing marginalization. The Center annually serves hundreds of K-12 schools and districts, colleges and universities, and businesses and firms across a multitude of sectors.The USC Race and Equity Center is searching for two equity-minded, highly-skilled quantitative data scientists to join our survey research team. The National Assessment of Collegiate Campus Climates, our quantitative survey, is being administered to more than 1.5 million students at colleges and universities across the United States. We are also creating a new pair of national climate surveys, one for faculty and another for staff at higher education institutions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the advancement of the USC Race and Equity Center's mission.
  • Developing, validating, and revising trustworthy, high-quality quantitative racial equity and campus racial climate survey instruments.
  • Convening experts for input, feedback, and peer-review of the Center's survey instruments.
  • Systematically and rigorously analyzing quantitative survey responses.
  • Preparing clean data files for submission to institutions participating in the Center's surveys.
  • Producing data reports and dashboards for institutions participating in the Center's surveys.
  • Responding to queries from professionals in offices of institutional research and other relevant stakeholders at institutions participating in the Center's surveys.
  • Monitoring institutional survey administrations via an online data collection system.
  • Partnering with other members of the survey research team and the USC Center for Social and Economic Research to ensure secure, efficient, and high-quality survey administration processes.
  • Collaborating with the Center's marketing team on data visualization and public communication strategies.
  • Collaborating with Ph.D. students and other survey research team members to present survey findings at local, state, national, and international conferences and meetings.
  • Collaborating with Ph.D. students and other survey research team members to publish survey findings in peer-reviewed journals and other academic publications.
  • Identifying opportunities for improved efficiencies and responsive, high-quality service to institutions participating in the Center's surveys.
  • Representing the Center on various committees in the USC Rossier School of Education and throughout the University.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Center's directors.Preferred Qualifications:
    • Education: Ph.D.
      • Work Experience: At least 5 years full-time professional work experience in a quantitative survey research and data analysis role.Desired Expertise:Demonstrated commitment to racial equity. Expertise in instrumentation and survey development. Extraordinary quantitative data analysis skills. Strong oral and written communication skills.Required Documents: Cover Letter and Resume Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree

        Minimum Experience: 1 year

        Minimum Field of Expertise: Proficient PC skills. Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, word processing and statistical software programs. Knowledge of business statistics and data analyses techniques. Ability to manage and analyze data.
