The Engagement Group's creative team is a collaborative team of experts, charged with ideating and executing compelling visual stories and experiences that give a voice to science and bring data to life. Art Director Requirements 2-4 years of experience in art direction, with experience in creating storyboards for video production, and working on various styles of video projects Pharma and healthcare experience desired Overview The Art Director position is intended for candidates who have worked in an agency setting for 2-4 years and are ready to lead design execution and delivery of a wide range of communications materials for our pharmaceutical clients. A well-rounded set of skills is required, with experience in illustrating and creating storyboards, and a knowledge of video productions, including familiarity with terminology & techniques to ensure seamless conversations with video production companies. The job requires confidence to creative visual design that keeps up with the latest trends, and explore new visual language to create truly exceptional imagery. The ability to create storyboards is preferable, with a deep understanding of how to create production-ready boards with necessary direction for production companies to shoot from. A familiarity with drawing or illustration is a plus. The ability to sell their work to peers and clients is essential. The role is very hands-on and is often busy; time and self-management skills are essential. Art directors are expected to work independently and show initiative in their creative work. They must show a willingness and active drive to be promoted to a Senior Art Director through not just creative output, but an active understanding of the medical communications business. And they must be able to partner with account and scientific teams to elevate projects to a higher creative level. A portfolio showcasing previous work is essential. Experience and expertise The breadth of experience should include:
          • A strong portfolio showing skills in design focusing on good design and typography. But keep in mind that quality beats quantity; only show us your best pieces
          • Work must demonstrate good understanding of composition
          • Work showing conceptual thinking is plus
          • Familiarity and comfort with Mac platform
          • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign) as well as ability to work in PowerPoint
          • Understanding storyboarding techniques and ability to work with storyboards
          • BA or BFA in Graphic Design, Art, or equivalent experience
          • Have a professional attitude and look, and be a strong representative of the Engagement Group and HCG in front of clients
          • Ability to take direction, and a willingness to learn new things
          • Positive thinker and collaborative team member with an ability to work independently
          • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Personal Skills We have high standards. We want you to learn to love medical communications as much as we do, and a keen interest in science and medicine will go a long way. You must be motivated with a flexible and can-do attitude, combined with excellent communication skills. You should show an ability to overcome challenging requirements and demonstrate creativity and innovation in finding ways to execute never-been-done-before ideas. We expect you to keep abreast of the latest creative and digital trends. The candidate will report to a Creative Director, and is expected to be well organized, with an ability to work efficiently with other people. With current social distancing restrictions, the candidate must be able to work independently from their home, and maintain consistent contact with their manager, fellow EG members, and their account and scientific team using virtual communication platforms such as Zoom and Teams.
