Our client is a rapidly growing contract manufacturer focusing on the development of innovative skincare, haircare, and body care products. They continue to expand their portfolio of clients and during 2020 implemented a new ERP system, expanded their square footage to double their production capacity, and are scaling their leadership team to support the hyper-growth. This is an exciting time to join a rapidly growing beauty manufacturer that is committed to improving the lives of their employees, communities, and environment. Currently, this manufacturer is reducing the carbon footprint through solar power, wastewater management, recycling and has formed a social responsibility team dedicated to evaluating environmental integrity opportunities. The Senior Technical Director will provide leadership to Quality, Regulatory, and Research & Development teams by partnering with management to implement practical solutions, inspire a continuous improvement mindset across all teams, and encourage employee ownership to drive projects to meet quality and timeline deliverables. This leadership opportunity will play a critical role in the development of new processes, systems, and reports to analyze productivity and develop metrics to evaluate the volume of projects to implement a scalable plan along with the executive team for YOY growth. Most importantly, the Technical Director will lead the team to support professional growth, provide coaching and create a positive working environment for the long-term retention of valuable team members.

• Lead R&D, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Regulatory teams. Identify gaps, develop performance metrics and implement processes to increase efficiencies to support continuous growth
• Partner with the Executive team to provide guidance pertaining to the R&D and Quality teams with the development of metrics and reports to create accurate KPI's for direct teams to measure productivity and performance
• Partner with R & D within the first 90 days to observe the project volume, production output, SOP's, and cross-functional communication to identify process improvement opportunities. Additionally, create a plan of action and work with the Executive team on software tools, and SOP improvements to track communication internally and finalize projects to scale up production output to support company growth objectives
• Partner with R & D to create cohesive cross-functional partnerships with Sales, Compounding, Quality, and Operations to increase team collaboration and provide solutions to chronic problems. Evaluate SOP's to create cohesive working relationships to meet project deliverables
• Communicate directly with clients as the Quality expert. Lead audits, address any customer questions, provide plant tours and address all nonconformance issues with correction action plans. Partner with the team to increase quality systems to elevate the company's standards to attract larger beauty customers
• Continuously partner with the Executive team to evaluate current processes with the R&D, Quality, and Regulatory teams. Provide feedback to increase automation with current forms and processes. This is an ongoing effort to improve the current systems to increase employee ownership, efficiencies and analyze performance metrics to make adjustments to meet forecasted goals
• Partner with the Quality teams to oversee quality management systems to evaluate, identify process improvement with current systems for critical control points for raw materials, components, and finished goods to ensure quality standards are met and/or exceeded. Partner with the team lead for any client audits, non-conformance, and quality issues to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction
• Partner with Regulatory team leader to provide oversight with domestic and global regulatory changes, create communication flow to ensure all cross-functional teams are up to date. Directly attend seminars to maintain expertise on evolving regulatory changes pertaining to the development of personal care products
• Meet with the CEO on weekly basis to provide updates on key account projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and team dynamics to manage up and create a key partnership to support all business needs Qualifications:
  • 12 plus years in a leadership capacity cross-functionally and/or overseeing R & D, quality, and regulatory team members
  • Minimum BS in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Organic Chemistry or related science preferred
  • Proven track record of a collaborative team coach that thrives on working through problems and creating learning opportunities for continuous development of team members
  • Prior experience building processes, systems, and cross-functional collaboration to increase productivity
  • Process improvement mindset and track record of analyzing metrics (KPI's) to increase productivity
  • Strong verbal communication skills to influence ideas, translate concepts and communicate directly to internal and external partners based on technical expertise
  • Thrives in a fast pace and nimble work environment to adapt to changing priorities based on client needs
