The Product Development Director position will work at our technical center in El Segundo, CA and is part of the Research, Development, and Quality group supporting nutritional products at Beachbody. This position will drive pipeline innovation for R&D Product Development across the breadth of Beachbody---s nutritional platform, leading strategy, ideation and initial development for innovation within current brands and future product expansion.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Drive further out innovation and future brand renovation to support R&D strategy for existing and new product brands, driving nutritional revenue and growth.Extract consumer insights and trends to identify whitespace opportunities and develop compelling recommendations for brand renovation and new products. Present compelling product ideas that align to business strategy to Leadership and key stakeholders.Systematically review product ideas to feed 3-year launch calendar, pitch ideas to leadership and key stakeholders, and complete feasibility review and initial development on high potential opportunities.Build strong relationships with key suppliers and contract manufacturers to gain additional sources for idea generation and turnkey opportunities.Collaborate with Brand Leadership to build out robust 3 year launch calendar and ensure resource requirement needs are mapped out for future initiatives. Responsible for technical product development direction of projects- identifying key deliverables and next steps and communicating to team.Build strong relationships with key cross-functional partners with Marketing, Business Leadership and Operations to ensure collaboration and aligned decision making for key development initiatives.Identify potential product acquisition opportunities and present opportunities to leadership and key stakeholders. Aligning and developing product brief and project scope for growth initiatives, as well as identifying testing criteria, equipment requirements for innovation and growth.Leading ownable product designs through the use of IP management and ensure ---Freedom to Operate--- working with internal legal counsel.Proactively identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement of internal processes for product development.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES:Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a 4-year accredited college or university in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Bachelor---s degree in Food Science and Technology or equivalentMaster's Degree (MA/MS) from an accredited university in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities preferred.EXPERIENCE:8 to 12 years of project management experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:10-12 years of experience in R&D food and/or supplement industryFood Science, Engineering, Chemistry or Equivalent BS degree required, with a strong preference for a higher degree.Proven track record of building innovation strategy and driving product development programs from concept to commercialization.Industry leading understanding of ingredient functionality, product evaluation, health and nutrition, food manufacturing processes, microbiology, quality assurance principles, and market research practicesAbility to influence leaders cross-functionally and within R&D to drive projects in line with business strategyStrong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to create cross-functional teamsAbility to rapidly and effectively respond to changes in project scope and focusDemonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex projects with overlapping timelinesPreference for management experienceStrong drive for results and execution abilityExcellent communication skills both written and oral, and ability to work effectively with teamsStrong organizational and planning skillsTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:20% work-related travel time requiredBeachbody, LLC is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, ancestry, national origin, citizenship status, religion, creed, age, physical or mental disability, sex, gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, military and veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
