Job Summary Statement: Center X is a community of educators, in the
Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA,
working to transform public schooling to create a more just,
equitable, and humane society. The Assistant Director - 21
California School Leadership Academy (CSLA) will manage the
development and facilitation of professional learning opportunities
and coaching in alignment with the goals and vision of the 21st
Century California School Leadership Academy project among
teachers, faculty, administrators, and staff. The incumbent will
design, plan, and administer programs (e.g. Institutes, follow-up
sessions, workshop series, conferences, district wide programs)
that focuses on the 21 California School Leadership Academy (CSLA)
Percentage of Time: 100
Shift Start: 8:00 am
Shift End: 5:00 pm
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
Comfortable working in many different teaching environments and
with leaders from varied backgrounds and experiences,
organizational skills and flexibility
Specialized training and/or experience in providing professional
development and coaching, preferably having participated in
institutes offered by California State Subject Matter Projects
Working knowledge of management and organizational structures that
facilitate the operation of a complex network of administrators,
parents, teachers, students, and staff.
Familiarity with Statewide System of Support and 21CSLA concepts
and skills to edit and update curriculum and instructional
Project management skills in educational programs; understanding
project's goals and objectives; ability to effectively facilitate a
team approach to program design, implementation, monitoring, and
An understanding of the levels of professional development.
Ability to summarize current research and reform issues regarding
leadership, coaching, and continuous improvement and related
education issues AND to apply them to programs.
Advanced degree in Education.
Experience leading in schools and/or county offices of
5 years minimum experience in successful leadership, preferably in
an urban context.
Ability to promote positive public relations image.
Ability to develop, nurture, and sustain leaders.
Ability to design, implement, evaluate and revise professional
Ability to communicate effectively to small and large groups of
people, including colleagues, teacher leaders, parents, and

Ability to create and maintain budgets.
Skill in working with many different leadership environments and

Experience leading schools that serve Multilingual Learners,
