is seeking a Systems Engineering Department Manager 3 to join our
Engineering team within Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division
in Roy, Utah, Manhattan Beach, CA or Huntsville, Alabama. This role

Get To Do: The successful candidate will lead a Systems Integration
department (typically 75-150 engineers) within the SDS Engineering
organization and will report directly to an SDS Systems Engineering
Director. The department incorporates multiple engineering
disciplines (Integrated Functional Capability (IFC), digital
engineering, governance & enablers, and advanced concepts) to
support Systems Integration needs across the division programs. As
a department manager, you will set operating objectives and provide
leadership and mentorship to Functional Home Room (FHR) Section
Managers (SMs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company
policy. You will also provide oversight and assistance to multiple
business units within the division portfolio, while providing the
people, training, and processes for successful achievement of
program goals. Additionally, department managers are responsible to
plan for and manage risk; ensure project performance, schedule, and
technical quality; and address technical or operational problems
when necessary. The selected candidate will assist engineers and
program staff to select, develop and maintain talent within the
organization. Further, department managers will have frequent
contact with equivalent level managers, program leaders, and senior
SDS staff to enhance the health and performance of the SDS
portfolio of programs. Essential Functions: • Possess excellent
communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to
collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees • Provide
ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support
business areas and programs in achieving their mission set •
Maintain accountability for recruiting, staffing, and retaining
talent to deliver on business objectives • Support proposal work,
independent technical reviews, program standup and audits, and
special assignments on an as-needed basis • Own and lead
improvements across employee engagement, hiring, development,
training, attraction, and retention • Mentor, develop, and train
section managers and department employees • Review and analyze
engineering change data and coordinate changes with engineering,

standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows
employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take
every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive
relocation assistance package. You’ll Bring These Qualifications: -
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of related experience or
Masters Degree in STEM and 6 years of related experience • Must
have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at
time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to
obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a
reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its
business need • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience within
the following engineering disciplines, preferably in support of
Launch Vehicles or ICBM/SLBM systems: systems integration,
Integrated Functional Capability (IFC), digital engineering,
governance & enablers, and advanced concepts These Qualifications
Would be Nice to Have: • Master's Degree with 9 years of experience
in STEM • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance
at time of application, current and within scope. • Active Special
Access Program (SAP) approval. • Proven performance as an
Engineering Leader in all phases of acquisition, design,
integration, and execution • Strong communication and interpersonal
skills and the ability to work within a diverse team • Ability to
rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the
organizational group as well as demonstrated mentoring and guidance
to engineers • Familiarity with the development of electrical,
mechanical, or environmental systems • Understanding of Systems
Engineering lifecycle and associated phases of development •
Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira • Working knowledge
and/or experience across engineering disciplines • Experience
creating or growing new sections or departments • Experience
managing an engineering team • Experience working in Model-Based
Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo • Understanding of
requirements development/management using DOORS or similar tool(s)
• Experience working with Air Force, government, and contractor
personnel • Familiarity with Air Force nuclear surety certification
and regulatory requirements Primary Level Salary Range: $166,700.00
- $289,600.00 The above salary range represents a general
guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors
when determining base salary offers such as the scope and
responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience,
education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the
position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift
differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as
well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in
Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term
Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of
benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability
insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off
