Job Description:

Rudolph and Sletten has immediate needs for Field Engineers in the Los Angeles & Irvine region.The Field Engineer is primarily committed to field operations. This includes working to ensuring plans and specifications are being adhered to with quality control measures implemented. Accurate and timely reporting of daily work, quantities and the associated documentation requirements needed.This position reports directly to the Project Manager, Field Supervision, Project Engineer and all other assigned supervision.

Essential Duties Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding of standard concepts, practices and procedures within construction field.
  • Interprets designs and drawings for crafts installing materials and qualifications
  • Understands necessary control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials or equipment.Review submittals against specifications.
  • Reviews mock-up and/or shop drawings and specifications.
  • Understands subcontractor job specifications and scope of work.
  • Able to coordinate with Subcontractors and Suppliers.
  • Responsible for the review and maintenance of subcontractor non-compliance and coordinates with QA/QC.
  • Verifies that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings and specifications.
  • Researches and resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errors.
  • Researches and proposes solutions to quality control issues.
  • Creates and processes RFI's.
  • Prepares field design change requisitions and "as built" drawings, as required.
  • Demonstrates schedule understanding in coordination with construction logistics and construction sequencing.
  • Prepares and disseminates all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc., to supervisor.
  • Understands company's quality control plan and takes weekly photos to document any quality control issues.
  • Reviews and comments on viability of design as required.Conducts value engineering functions.
  • Aware of target vs. actual productivity on self performed work.
  • Sensitive to Environmental issues and management of them.
  • Helps to create a safe work site and identifies job hazards to reduce danger.
  • Understands company safety program and participates in safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations to include health, safety, and welfare as appropriate.
  • Participates in job walks and documents and reports findings.
  • Understands PCO process and minimal ability in identifying PCO/change orders.
  • Performs quantity takeoffs
  • Understand the impacts of project performance on insurance and bond.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of discipline, construction technology, design, applicable codes standards, etc., required
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    Other Duties:
    • Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects.
    • Good written and oral communications and team skills.
    • Performs work tasks by receiving direction and then working independently with an interest in quickly learning and applying new skills and abilities.
    • Analyzes and resolves construction process problems and issues and effectively communicates and interfaces with all levels of personnel.
    • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
    • Performs work tasks by receiving direction and then working independently with an interest in quickly learning and applying new skills and abilities.
    • Demonstrates consistent ability to be dependable, consistent, diligent, and thorough.
    • Exercises creativity and resourcefulness in completing tasks accurately in a compressed timeframe.
      Required Job Skills:
      • Intermediate knowledge of Windows Office Systems; particularly in Excel, Word and Outlook, etc.
      • Intermediate knowledge of plan reading required.
      • Working knowledge of scheduling and estimating software.
      • Working knowledge of CAD 2000 or CAD 3-D is desired.
        Education and Experience:
        • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related engineering related field or four years' experience in the construction management field of work.
        • Minimum one (1) year experience as an entry level project engineer working on a project with concrete experience.

              Salary range for this position is $80,000 - $91,000 depending upon experience
