• Establish, supervise, document and improve processes and products specific to propulsion engineering consistent with industry standard processes while maintaining the speed, agility and efficiency of a startup operation. The processes established will support collecting vital compliance data, improve cycle time, user acceptance, and to reduce defects and rework
• Understand user's motivations, needs and behavior through research methodologies, interviews, and workshops to identify new opportunities and solutions around the future of human space activity
• Use customer insights, industry standard processes and collaborator guidance to prioritize experience/functional requirements and develop roadmaps.
• Champion thoughtful, holistic experiences and create clear and concise design strategy for achieving them across emerging and often ambiguous intersections of technology and human experiences
• Develop strategies and approaches to that will enable capabilities of the future. Use prototyping & experimentation to drive decision-making and measure the impact of the experiences we're building quantitatively
• Mentor and educate Blue Origin employees and development teams of human-centered design
• Collaborate closely with multi-functional team-members and a broad set of stakeholders (internal and external) from business executives, design and research partners, product owners, and engineer teams through an iterative Human Centered Design process for framing, problem-solving, and synthesis of design problems.
• Work with innovative technologies in a wide variety of business areas (e.g., engineering, analysis. manufacturing, testing, verification)
• Develop and communicate tool roadmaps and plans to leadership and collaborators
• Evaluate, implement, and lead commercial software purchases and deployment in a fast-paced environment

  • Bachelor's in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • MS in Human-Centered Design, Industrial Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction or similar design field
  • 10+ years of aerospace industry experience
  • Proven ability in senior- or lead-level strategy roles, getting results for collaborators within an agency or product company
  • Strong appreciation for human-centered design and outstanding customer experiences, and experience of collaboration with creative partners
  • Consistent track record of developing cohesive, compelling strategic visions for experience, product, and service challenges
  • A portfolio of robust design case studies that include successful, elite user-driven products
  • Support up to 10% domestic travel to engage key partners and support training
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Experience leading and/or maturing design as an organizational competency
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumDesired:
    • Systems engineering and aerospace engineering experience
    • Ability to communicate at all levels within a matrix organization - Experience working with senior leadership and key collaborators to lead business changes
    • Experience developing applications around of enterprise systems (e.g., Windchill, Doors, ERP, MRP) and their APIs
