Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems is currently hiring for a range of experience levels including; Experienced, Lead and Senior RF Test Engineers to join us as part of our Micro-Electronics group located in El Segundo, CA.

The Micro-electronics group develops, designs, and tests state-of-the-art MMIC's and RFIC's in GaAs, GaN, Si, and SiGe technologies for space payloads. The RF Test Engineer will be responsible for testing and validating state-of-the-art MMIC's and RFIC's in GaAs, Si, and SiGe technologies for space payloads. Candidate will be expected to setup, maintain and operate wafer probe stations producing accurate, validated data. Candidate will also have in-depth knowledge of calibration theory and application for s-parameters, power and NF testing. The candidate will work on the full spectrum of test engineering from development through flight insertion. The candidate will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of RFIC technologies into larger systems. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment and setups.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans and procedures for RFIC and MMIC devices in GaAs, Si, and SiGe technologies.
  • Maintain and operate probe stations including probe card implementation.
  • Conduct hands-on testing of RFIC and MMIC devices using laboratory equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and network analyzers.
  • Program test controllers to support automated test.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and setups.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of RFIC and MMIC technologies into larger systems.
  • Maintain and improve laboratory equipment and setups to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document test results and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in RF testing and contribute to the development of new best practices and procedures.
  • Participate in the mentoring and development of junior engineers. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    This worksite participates in Boeing's optional 9/80 schedule rotation. 9/80 is a rotation in which employees can work 9 hour shifts, 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.

    Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.

    This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
    • Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
    • 3+ years of experience in RF testing and validation
    • 3+ years of experience with RFIC and/or MMIC devices in GaAs, Si and SiGe technologies Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
      • Experience working in and maintaining an engineering laboratory
      • Experience with Operation and calibration utilizing PNA-X, high speed oscilloscope, AWG, spectrum analyzers using STE CAD
      • Proficiency in RF test automation and scripting languages such as LabVIEW and Python
      • Experience in test plan and procedure development
      • Experience with maintenance and operation of wafer probe stations

        Typical Education/Experience

        P3

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        P4

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        P5

        Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

        Summary pay range: $100,000 - $195,000
