The position entails creation of revolutionary, innovative products in the emerging field of construction 3D printing. We are looking for a hands-on mechanical engineer who will be designing, prototyping, fabricating, and testing cutting-edge electro-mechanical inventions.

As the first venture capital funded company in the construction 3D printing field, Contour Crafting is focused on overcoming the technology barriers for adoption of 3D printing as a real alternative to traditional construction. Essential Job Functions:

• Electro-mechanical design, development, and documentation for systems of varied complexity from concept through production. Designs will integrate industrial electro-mechanical system components, including motors, gears, bearings, sensors, actuators, servo drivers, etc.
• Develop and document test equipment for electro-mechanical assemblies. Analysis, design, and testing at the component and systems level.
• Design electrical panels and enclosures for industrial motion control applications.
• Working side by side with technical staff to utilize design elements that directly add value to prototyping methods, providing innovative ideas where applicable.
• Conduct design reviews and take ideas from concept to reality. This includes designing and performing engineering and prototype building as required. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical engineering and/or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience designing and building electro-mechanical systems and working effectively within new product introduction processes.
  • Experience and hands-on skills in mechanical design, fabrication and familiarity with industrial safety standards of conduct.
  • Solid understanding and experience with servo motors and related motion control systems as well as related such as sensors, gears, bearings, etc.
  • Experience with setting up industrial EtherCAT networks preferred
  • Capable of programming microcontrollers (C++ and Python preferred)
  • Effective, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with CAD software, such as Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) preferred
  • Limited travel may be required.
