We want to leave things better than we found them.Job DetailsJob Description: Ability to coordinate with a local vendor to get equipment selection for a specific project The Electrical Engineer will work on a variety of projects, from small to large, providing a high level of technical knowledge. They will represent the firm when interacting with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. They will be involved in the design of building mechanical and plumbing systems, with a strong emphasis on innovation and sustainability. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, has the ability to multi-task, work independently and also as an effective and engaged team member in a fast-paced environment. Strong initiative and follow through is essential.Responsibilities:Prepare Electrical construction drawings and specifications consistent with client and company requirements and standards.Attends and is an active participant in the design and construction project team meetings.Conduct field surveys of existing electrical systemsEnsure that designs are compliant with Building/Energy Codes, and LEED standardsResponsible for completing California Title 24 Energy Compliance documentationAssists with establishing design standards, specifications and criteria for projectsDesign electrical systems utilizing Revit and AutoCAD Perform power distribution designPerform lighting distribution designDesign fire alarm systemsKnowledgeable of and design for low voltage systems, including phone, data, intercom/PA, surveillance, intrusion, access, sound, CATV, and similar systemsDevelop single line diagrams, generator and electrical room layoutsDevelop and populate panel schedulesPerform voltage drop calculations, short-circuit calculations, breaker coordination studies, arc flash and fault current studiesAbility to size overcurrent protection and feeder sizes for various electrical equipmentSpecify manufacturers equipment utilizing manufacturers catalogs, i.e. UPS, Panels, Switchboard, Transformers, etc. Ability to design an emergency power supply system (EPSS), stand-by power, etc., by sizing the associate electrical appurtenances (i.e., Generator, ATSs, MTSs, etc.) Ability to design towards NEC Article 700, 701, and 702Ability to use Title 24 Compliance Software (EnergyPro) to validate Title 24 Compliance for Interior and Exterior Lighting Applications and other applicable software for energy compliance such as COMCheckAbility to perform photometric studies using software such as Visual, AGI32Conduct analyses to develop design options and recommendationsPrepare calculations and reportsSpecifies materials for conduit, wire, receptacles, light fixtures and determine sizingLimited experience (if possible) with Medium Voltage (MV) design, including specifying MV substations, Load Interrupter Switches (LIS), etc.Knowledgeable in the National Electrical Code (NEC) Assist in the preparation of proposals, cost estimates and lifecycle cost analysis of equipmentWrite technical reports to document engineering analyses and findingsConduct feasibility studies for proposed equipment and systemsAssists with construction site observations, sustainability analyses, feasibility reports, and basis of design reports, shop drawing submittal review, RFI responses, etc.Submit drawing packages to the local AHJ for review.
