for a Mid-Level Additive Manufacturing Engineer (Build Developer)
to join the growing team in Boeing Additive Manufacturing
Intelligence Center. This role will be located in El Segundo,
CA.Working with the direction of the Additive Manufacturing Build
File Developer Engineering Lead you will have the opportunity to
develop Additive Manufacturing engineering build files with
optimized nesting strategies and support structures. In addition,
the selected candidate will develop optimized support structures
for Metal Additive Manufactured build files using the tools of
Magic s Materialize software and EOS State and EOS print or other
tools; and coordinate with the Additive Manufacturing Digital
engineering team to simulate the build and to refine build file as
indicated by simulations in order to obtain the geometric and
mechanical fidelity required by the customer.Job
Responsibilities:
- Work with engineering team to suggest modifications on existing
designs that will lead to greater success when fabricated
additively
- Develop statements of work, including design requirements, cost
and schedule estimates for different build layout scenarios
- Contribute to the integration of engineering design
modifications and digital build file creation based on numerical
simulation feedback as well as feedback from engineering,
manufacturing, and procurement teams
- Investigate and resolve moderately-complex manufacturing
processes, or engineering related issues
- Assist in customer consultations and contribute to R&D
proposals This position allows telecommuting. The selected
candidate may be required to perform some work onsite at one of the
listed location options. This position must meet Export Control
compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22
C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen,
lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications
(Required Skills/Experience)
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an
accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science,
mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 3+ years of experience with Additive Manufacturing
technologies
- 3+ years of experience with support structure
generationPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with EOS build file tools and the Dassault Syst--mes
3DEXPERIENCE Platform
- Experience with Materials Science related to Additive
Manufacturing
- Experience with heat transfer issues related to Additive
Manufacturing
- Technical Bachelor s Degree (A technical degree is defined as
any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific,
information technology, aerospace, or material science field of
study)Typical Education / Experience: Education/experience
typically acquired through advanced technical education from an
accredited course of study in engineering, computer science,
mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5
or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination
of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years'
related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the
preferred, although not required, accreditation
standard.Relocation:This position offers relocation based on
