Job DescriptionRaytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S) is looking to staff a 2nd Shift Hardware Quality Engineer (HQE) position located in El Segundo, CA. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.The HQE will provide quality engineering support and expertise to Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S) to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements. Provide education and knowledge on the use of quality resources in the administration of the Quality System. Apply quality engineering skills to develop and deploy effective and efficient methods for verifying and accepting processes and products, including the use of quantitative and qualitative resources.The HQE will use analytical tools and methods to: improve product design; minimize inspection; resolve fabrication problems; complete such specialized quality functions as data preparation, analyses, and reporting; develop techniques and methods; support process improvements; complete special investigations and audits; take preventative and corrective actions; audit manufacturing and test data for Quality System requirements; support design reviews to ensure that quality is engineered into the product; and develop product acceptance techniques and plans.The HQE will provide support for Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) repairs and Test Asset repairs in support of Spares and Repairs (S&R). The HQE will provide expertise, guidance and overseeing of issues encountered during Sensor Electronics Unit (SEU) depot repair activities which include unit troubleshooting, tear-downs and re-installation of electrical and mechanical hardware, unit testing and unit acceptance. This includes ensuring proper implementation of root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action; continuous improvement; compliance with SAS policies and procedures; deployment and alignment of the quality engineering processes.Key job responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:Establish the implications of disassembly during rework or repair activitiesPerform first article inspection (FAI)Assure special test equipment (STE) and tooling comply with approved assembly and tooling drawings, assembly instructions, test procedures and metrology requirementsPerform lab and/or manufacturing center audits to verify product safety requirements are adhered to throughout build and test, including electrostatic discharge (ESD), foreign object damage (FOD), critical lifts and storageCare for dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reportingAssure identification and segregation of all out-of-tolerance equipment and tooling, and assure investigation into product impact.U.S. Citizenship required as the candidate must have an Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance day one of employment.Required Skills: Minimum 2 years as a Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering professionalExperience with project/program bid and proposal developmentExperience with AS9100 Quality Management SystemExperience with Project management and Risk and Opportunity managementExperience with microelectronic fab, manufacturing and assemblyExperience with metrology, measurement instruments and practicesAbility to write clear presentations and technical reports, including proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPointThorough organizational, collaborative and communication skillsMust be able to travel as required to support external customers and suppliers.Desired Skills: Experience working with external suppliers and mechanical inspection techniquesExperience in supporting design and manufacturing processes and have the ability to work within a cross-functional team environmentExperience with Six Sigma methodology and resources such as lean manufacturing and continuous improvementHands on use of statistical process controls for process monitoring, qualification and/or design feedbackAbility to lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actionsKnowledge and application of business acumenAbility to lead cross-functional teams in failure analyses, root cause analysis using Six Sigma techniques such as fault trees and fishbone diagrams, and implementing and enforcing corrective actionsFamiliar with Lean Manufacturing concepts such as Design for Manufacturing and Affordability (DFMA), Input-output diagrams, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)Ability to guide and develop balanced supplier relationships built on partnerships and preferred performanceAbility to effectively multiple tasks and prioritiesAbility to collaborate and team with multiple internal functions and external organizations to provide best value solutions to our customers.Required Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or MathematicsBachelor of Art Degrees in an appropriate field of science (Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics)Bachelor of Art Degree in MathematicsDesired Education:For the Bachelor of Art Degrees listed above, ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standardBusiness Unit ProfileRaytheon Intelligence & Space delivers the disruptive technologies our customers need to succeed in any domain, against any challenge.
