Candidates must demonstrate evidence of effective communication, collaboration, and successful teaching pedagogy.Subject taught: -1-2 English courses. Course assignments will depend on experience.Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in English or related subject and experience teaching in a high school setting. -Highly Desirable: Graduate degree in English or Education and/or a teaching credential.Primary duties: The teacher will teach five periods of English in a college-preparatory environment. This will involve lesson planning, lesson presentation, student assessment, and individualized student support as needed. The teacher will develop, plan, and present lessons to students in a classroom, utilizing course material and other appropriate learning material. Teachers are expected to collaborate with fellow teachers on curriculum and instruction. The teacher will supervise, monitor, assign, and evaluate students. In addition, the teacher will establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom, maintain appropriate and timely records of student progress, communicate with parents, and establish and maintain an effective environment for students.Additional duties: Teachers are also expected to support the school's spiritual program by assisting with retreats, school-wide liturgies, and/or community service programs. The teacher is expected to support the school's co-curricular programs by moderating activities and/or clubs as well as prefect at various dances and athletic events.
