our Learning and Engagement Division for Community Partnerships.JOB DESCRIPTION
A Zoo Curator of Education plans, develops, implements and/or evaluates a comprehensive zoo education program and public information program at the Los Angeles Zoo. This position will:
--- Co-create programs with partner organizations
--- Coordinate onsite community partnerships
--- Create and facilitate public programs that showcase community partnerships
--- Connect partner organizations to Zoo resources

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; and one year of full-time paid professional experience researching, developing, implementing, presenting, and/or evaluating programs with a focus on learning, conservation or equity programs at a zoo, aquarium, museum, community engagement organization, or other informal science learning facility performing duties such as writing science based curriculum; preparing and researching science materials for programs; writing informational graphics; or providing interactive workshops for audiences of various ages.This position is to be filled on an emergency appointment basis. Please note that emergency appointments are temporary appointments and are contingent upon approval by the City of Los Angeles' Personnel Department. The permanent appointment will be made upon the completion of the civil service examination process for Zoo Curator of Education. The successful incumbents for this emergency appointment position will be required to take the examination and obtain a high enough score on the eligibility list in order to be selected for the permanent appointment.Further CommentsEMERGENCY APPOINTMENTAn emergency appointment is not a regular appointment. It is a temporary appointment which does not require that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process. The appointment may not exceed one year and must be terminated immediately when a regular appointment can be made from an eligible list. No emergency appointment can exceed one year.
