Job Description:
Position Summary Amgen is seeking a dynamic and highly strategic
Associate Director of Strategic Planning & Operations to serve in a
dual role asChief of Staff to the VP of AI&D Innovation Lab &
Partnerships and VP of AI & Data Science. This leader will play a
central role in orchestrating strategic planning, operational
excellence, cross-functional alignment, and organizational
readiness across AI&D initiatives. This is a high-impact,
high-visibility role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced,
matrixed environments and can move seamlessly between strategy,
operations, communications, and delivery. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning Serve as a thought partner to
executive leadership; drive departmental priorities and long-range
planning. Coordinate 2025-2026 planning activities, including
portfolio strategy, headcount forecasting, and budgeting. Shape and
run annual operating rhythms (QBRs, portfolio reviews, LT offsites,
staff meetings, and readouts). Chief of Staff to 2 AI&D VPs
Handle everyday execution of departmental strategy, supporting
cross-functional priorities, key decisions, and follow-through. Own
agenda planning, coordination, and facilitation for leadership
meetings and offsites. Serve as the connective tissue across
AI&D leaders, tracking key initiatives and ensuring alignment.
Organizational Operations Drive internal communications, cultural
rituals, and cross-departmental engagement. Support organizational
design activities, including new roles, staff transitions, and
capability mapping. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with
Finance, HR, Tech, and Comms to support budget, talent, and
engagement strategies. Lead departmental communications strategy
and content calendar, including newsletters, events, and executive
updates. Coordinate closely with Product and Program Leads to
support project intake, prioritization, and delivery oversight.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree and 3 years
ofStrategic Planning and Operations experience OR Masters degree
and 5 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experience OR
Bachelors degree and 7 years of Strategic Planning and Operations
experience OR Associates degree and 12 years of Strategic Planning
and Operations experience OR High school diploma / GED and 14 years
of Supply Planning and Operations experience Preferred
Qualifications MBA or advanced degree in strategy, management, or
related field Experience in life sciences, biotech, or
AI/data-driven organizations Exceptional executive presence,
judgment, and communication skills Proven track record leading
strategic initiatives and operating with agility Expertise with
executive-level presentation, change management, and
cross-functional planning High EQ and comfort navigating ambiguity
