healthy, equal, and complete members of society.JOB SUMMARY: The
Senior Grant Writer is a new organizational position that will work
across Center departments to help prospect, prepare and ultimately
write government and other grants to sustain and expand Center
programming. This highly collaborative position requires an
individual who eagerly pitches in, recognizes the need for
attention to detail, generates ideas for improvement, and values
the editing process. As an advocate for the Center, you will need
to remain current on LGBTQ+ issues and the organization's diverse
range of programs and services. Success in this role requires an
aptitude for relationship building with funding prospects,
department administrators, program leaders, finance colleagues, and
administrative support staff across the Center. The Center is an
exciting place to work with an array of impactful
programs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1) Oversee a portfolio of mainly
government grant applications across Center programs, with an
emphasis on social services (i.e., services for youth experiencing
homelessness, senior services, survivor services, etc.);2) Working
closely with Department leads, manage and execute all stages of the
grant application process-identify funding opportunities, track
deadlines, orchestrate productive planning meetings for grant
applications, and manage all elements of the application process to
successful completion;3)In partnership with subject matter experts,
develop content for the grants, such as drafting grant objectives
and deliverables, and writing the government grant applications,
including writing compelling narratives to be incorporated in
proposals, grant applications, letters of inquiry, and when needed
for reports;4) Identify and prospect government funding sources and
opportunities to forward to appropriate leaders for consideration
and help facilitate and build funder relationships to resource
departments' programs and services;5) Work with Programs and
Finance to help prepare budgets;6) Adhere to grant submission
requirements;7) Attend meetings set forth by funders to obtain
information about the requirements;8) Develop and demonstrate in
depth understanding of agency-wide activities and programs,
including attending meetings to learn more about relevant programs,
and serve as a partner to programs in developing and expanding core
community services;9)Maintain timely and accurate electronic
records of work products;10) Provide assistance on non-government
grant applications, and with grant reporting as needed;11) Ensure
compliance with all Center policies, funding, and regulatory
requirements; and12) Other duties as assigned;JOB QUALIFICATIONS
AND EXPERIENCE: 1) Knowledge of or experience working with the
LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance
to LGBTQ people;2) A passion for the Center's work and its mission
to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people;3) A demonstrated
passion for the Center's work and its mission to make the world a
better place for LGBTQ+ people;4) Minimum 3 years in a similar role
as a grant writer, with an emphasis on government grant writing for
social services;5) Strong writing skills are essential, as is
attention to detail and deadlines;6) Ability to craft objectives,
theory of change, logic models, and work plans, as well as to
successfully research and utilize compelling information for the
grant process;7) Demonstrated effectiveness in managing the
challenges of preparing government grant for a large, multi-faceted
organization, including experience balancing multiple priorities is
strongly preferred;8) Demonstrated ability to increase strategic
collaboration both internally and externally;9) Excellent verbal
and written communication skills, including strong organizational,
and interpersonal skills required;10)Demonstrated ability to work
effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities,
nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender
expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages,
English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical
