Position Summary: This is an exciting opportunity to be a key leader, subject matter expert and advisor in all accounting matters reporting directly to the Controller. This role will work closely with the Finance team, the Grants Operations team and other foundation employees to perform assigned functional areas of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, lease management and other more complex accounting functions. -Success -in the Senior Accountant role will require a dedication to rigorous financial review and analysis, strong compliance management skills, attention to detail, the creation of quarterly reports, and a high degree of accuracy throughout all of these tasks. Position Accountabilities:
    • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), in daily accounting operations and procedures
    • Prepare journal entries; account analysis and reconciliations, and perform month-end and year-end close procedures
    • Maintain and update financial supporting records for areas of responsibility to ensure compliance with current audit and legal requirements
    • Prepare and ensure accuracy, integrity and timely reporting of financial statements and other internal reports
    • Assist in development of the administrative budget and prepare and analyze monthly department variance reports -
    • Manage requirements, gather and analyze data to prepare sales & use tax returns, and business property tax, and other annual filling requirements
    • Assist with annual audit and internal audits -
    • Represent department as key role in system conversions such as General Ledger accounting, Grant Management, and Investment Custodian Systems
    • Complete special projects, as requested Minimum Education, Qualifications and Experience: This position works with multiple collaborators, and it is critical this person has the right blend of hard and soft skills, analytical and people skills, grounded in a passion for TCE's mission. Prior experience with private foundations or not-for-profits is a plus but not required.
      • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or business -
      • Five to seven years of relevant experience in accounting Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
      • Knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, budgeting and cost control principles
      • Ability to prepare and review account reconciliations and ensure appropriate audit trail
      • Strong oral and written communications skills as well as an aptitude for visualizing data, identifying trends, and distilling details into an insightful high-level view
      • Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications, GP Dynamics and Sage Intact preferred
      • Knowledge of ADP preferred
      • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a broad range of foundation colleagues, balanced with the ability to work independently and seek counsel or feedback as appropriate
      • Ability to manage multiple assignments
